A pergola will obstruct light into the structure. What is the structure used for? How do you plan to use the deck for? Eating? Sitting? etc? Plan the activities and the furniture you'll need and draw up a floor plan. Floor plans are important outside & inside. The steps to the deck from the lawn are a little too abrupt. Needs a transition. Consider adding cement pavers to the grass, not as an extra patio but for a nicer transition design.

We are also trained to design and present winning presentations for city review approvals...... Of course, not all architects are equal so you might have to shop around a bit for the one that you like best. Look at their portfolio of projects........Call their references and see that their clients loved working with them. You can ask as many as you want for proposals.... Most architects will meet with you and write a proposal, without charging for that time. I am sure that you will be happy........

Led lighting running on both sides of each of the beams - you can buy it in strips. I would go for a bright white but you can even get it in colours and or changing colours. I would also do the same along the floor under the cabinets and perhaps between the upper cabinets and bench top.
