We are currently renting a house with black feature walls in the bedrooms as well as black carpet. All the trims, ceilings, doors are white so different to your aesthetic. The black carpet is an absolute nightmare as it shows every speck and I have to vacuum every day, even though there are only 3 adults living here - I'd hate to think how bad it would be with children and pets. The black walls mark very easily and I would say they'd need repainting every 12 months. So, in my experience, it is a very high maintenance look and something to be aware of. If you're happy with that, go for it!

Thanks rocksfam - sounds like black carpet is more trouble than it's worth :) Good to know about black walls too. We have already painted one, so we'll see how that goes!

I have black walls on my office entry. It’s been 18 months and I can see every blemish, chip and crack. It desperately needs a paint. We also did a black kitchen. It’s supposed to be fingerprint resistant but every wet mark or slightly greasy paw print leaves a mark. never again for either!

Ruth, we also have a black kitchen and there's only one spot on the pantry cupboard where ginger marks gather, but it's pretty easy to wipe them off. It sure does show the dust from sanding and painting the walls though.
