Lucky you getting a new kitchen, I immediately worry about the position of the MW by the doorway. the pantry is good except wonder at the door swing back to the counter as that doesn't leave you anywhere to put things down when taken out of the pantry. Also corner pantries like this are often set 200 off the end wall which reduces the depth of that shelf and stops it from being too deep

can you show more of your Floorplan including surrounding rooms.

I would look at deleting the “walk in” part of pantry. What would go on the floor in the walk in bit? I would extend the bench to end of room and have a wall of pantry cupboards, not the walk in. This would then give slightly more kitchen floor space, which would help with door placement. I like your colour choices.

The side door should swing towards the kitchen to stop it blocking the entry to kitchen. Which one is panty and fridge?

Unfortunately I don't have a complete floorplan. The two doors into the room actually swing outwards, the one next to the pantry goes into front entry, and the one next to the fridge goes into the dining room. The open side goes into the meals area and family room. We have to walk through the kitchen to get from the front to the back of the house.

The pantry door slides back, so it won’t block the bench.

Change that door to a cavity slider. There is room on the kitchen side. It will add soo much to your functionality. I don’t mind the step in pantry as drawn - I’d use it. Do you already have your fridge and does it fit? I hate those uplifted microwave shelves but have what works for you.

I like your colours. Which is ironic to me because I’m pulling out a green kitchen at the moment.

So as not to block the passageway through the kitchen would the fridge fit where the pantry is and add a narrower pantry where the fridge was. The corner would be similar to dreamers first picture, you could even have the MW there, or use it for coffee making. The MW could then be fitted into the narrower pantry with a space to put down.

I notice that your cabinets are deeper than the normal 600 base and 300 wall cabinets, this reduction could work better for the fridge

I agree with siriuskey design concept. If the kitchen is a thoroughfare, then you don’t want to be getting hot food or opening fridge doors when people are coming through the kitchen, that is just dangerous and bad planning. Especially since there are solid entrance doors, so no visual warning of people traffic. You should have all the “working” parts of the kitchen on one side, and the non working parts on the other. As per Siriuskey plan. A couple of photos with a similar concept.

I agree about not putting the fridge on the other side of the walkway through the kitchen. However, I think the same about the microwave - unless you hardly ever use it. And if you hardly ever use it you could put it below bench height and put a wide shallow pantry where the microwave and fridge currently are. I use my microwave a lot and so have it at about bench level with a put-down space beside it.

If you do decide to leave the pantry where it is (with a cavity sliding door), then it has some advantages. It the most efficient way to use an internal corner. I have different depth shelves in my pantry. I find the deep one very useful for large items and put stuff at the back that I don't use very often.

I think more about the pantry in an ergonomic way. It is only 650mm deep and 1397mm long. Will you actually be able to stand comfortably inside that walk in pantry to access all shelving. You don’t want to be stretching to lift heavy items when you can’t actually turn around to stand in front of the shelves in the corner. How much storage would the pantry on your plans give, compared to a wall of pantry as per siriuskey concept.

It's not really a WIP it's a one foot on the base while you reach in. But I personally prefer the shallower pantry to replace the fridge and MW cabinet as long as the fridge will fit in the old Pantry space and the MW next to the fridge either on the bench or on a shelf in the corner, if it's on a shelf the coffee stuff will fit below it and still have put down hot stuff space. As per my rough sketch.

If it’s walk in don’t have a base in the walk in section. I think it would make the kitchen feel bigger if u ditch the walk in zone. Making the cupboard narrower
