Lighting plan feedback and advice
Hello everyone, hope you're all well!
I'm sorry in advance, it's a bit of a long post!
We are about to start renovating our PPOR, and would love your feedback on our lighting plan. We are a bit stuck, mainly with the entry, kitchen and passageway areas.
We plan on doing the electrical works over 2 stages, as we would like to add some missing elements, which I will detail below. For now, though, we are only focusing on the ambient lighting in the form of recessed downlights.

Ceiling height is 2.7m
We are going with Voltex 9w LED downlights. They are 900-1000 lumens with a 90-degree beam angle.
Kitchen - This one is the one I'm struggling with the most! Currently, there's top cabinetry on the wall where the cooktop is, by the sides of the rangehood. In the future, we plan on adding a shelf or two in the gap between the pantry and the fridge. We will then add LED strip lighting under the top cabinetry units, around the pantry door frame on the inside, as well as under the newly added shelves. Lastly, we will add 2/3 pendant lights above the kitchen bench.
With that in mind, what do you think of the proposed downlight plan? The downlights will be on a separate dimmer switch.
Entryway - In the future, we plan on adding a narrow console unit on the left past the door (just enough to put keys, a small pot plant), putting a mirror or a painting above it and framing it all with 2 wall sconces.
With that in mind, do you think the 1 downlight is sufficient? I'm concerned about the gap between that and the start of the family/meals area above. Should I add another downlight between? (marked with ?)
Additionally, we initially thought of having the 6 downlights in the family/meals on a dimmer switch, leaving the entry on a dedicated switch - do you think this will work well, or should the 2 areas be combined?
Passageway - Not sure if we should keep the position of the downlight in the middle in line with the other 2 at the end of the hallway to form a straight line, or move it to the left at the intersection of the laundry, toilet and bathroom?
All bedroom lights will be on a dimmer switch.
Laundry, toilet, bathroom and ensuite - we are just swapping existing ones to downlights. We will get back those areas in the future. (especially with 2 leaking showers, ugh!)
Thanks in advance, your feedback is greatly appreciated!
