Colour Me Happy: Beautiful Interiors From the Dulux Colour Awards
Dare to be different or go with a classic scheme – these homes are sure to spark ideas for your own grand painting plans
These Australian and New Zealand design dynamos have been recognised for their exceptional use of colour in Dulux Colour Awards 2018, now in its 32nd year. Below, we’ve featured some of our favourites from the Single Residential Interior and Exterior categories.
“Architects and designers have really pushed the boundaries with colour application to create uplifting, engaging – and often thoroughly surprising – interior and exterior spaces,” says Dulux colour planning manager Andrea Lucena-Orr. “Blue is emerging as a popular choice in residential interiors – warm denim tones are adding a relaxed elegance to bedrooms and kitchens, while funky turquoise is being used to energise and excite.” Lucena-Orr says splashes of yellow are also making an appearance in unexpected places such as ceilings and interior trims, both making an impact and bringing a sense of joy to a home.
“Grey has lost none of its appeal, particularly in residential exteriors,” she adds. “But rather than opting for a single shade, designers and architects are layering up multiple shades of the one colour for a more sophisticated and interesting tonal look.” The winning finalists will be announced on 10 May, 2018.
