Kitcheart LLCKitcheart LLC
This was a kitchen renovation of a mid-century modern home in Peoria, Illinois. The galley kitchen needed more storage, professional cooking appliances, and more connection with the living spaces on the main floor. Kira Kyle, owner of Kitcheart, designed and built-in custom cabinetry with a gray stain finish to highlight the grain of the hickory. Hardware from Pottery Barn in brass. Appliances form Wolf, Vent-A-Hood, and Kitchen Aid. Reed glass was added to the china cabinets. The cabinet above the Kitchen Aid mixer was outfitted with baking storage. Pull-outs and extra deep drawers made storage more accessible. New Anderson windows improved the view. Storage more than doubled without increasing the footprint, and an arched opening to the family room allowed the cook to connect with the rest of the family.

This Craftsman style kitchen displays warm earth tones between the cabinetry and various stone details. Richly stained quartersawn red oak cabinetry in a shaker door style feature simple mullion details and dark metal hardware. Slate backsplash tiles, granite countertops, and a marble sink complement each other as stunning natural elements. Mixed metals bridge the gap between the historical Craftsman style and current trends, creating a timeless look. Zachary Seib Photography

We completely remodeled an outdated, poorly designed kitchen that was separated from the rest of the house by a narrow doorway. We opened the wall to the dining room and framed it with an oak archway. We transformed the space with an open, timeless design that incorporates a counter-height eating and work area, cherry inset door shaker-style cabinets, increased counter work area made from Cambria quartz tops, and solid oak moldings that echo the style of the 1920's bungalow. Some of the original wood moldings were re-used to case the new energy efficient window.

This West Lafayette couple was tired of their worn out cabinets and appliances, an outdated design and a less than functional work space. They were interested in visually opening up their kitchen to allow for entertaining. Riverside Construction accomplished this by removing the wall peninsula cabinets, moving the sink under the rear window and repositioning the double ovens closer to the range top. Maple cabinets and granite countertops added a new beauty and warmth to the space, while luxury vinyl tile flooring and a travertine backsplash completed the new look. All of these remodeling improvements not only allowed for a more functional cooking space, but created the perfect environment for many friendly gatherings and parties.

A Lacanche range was the element that drove the design of this kitchen. The stove had to be ordered from France months in advance. Architect: Blackbird Architects .General Contractor: Allen Construction. Photography: Jim Bartsch Photography
