Heathland Group were contacted by a private client who required aeration in a lake on their property. Within the lake was an island where they were planning to build a lodge, providing an ideal place for compressor placement. The client also wanted something that was aesthetically pleasing and could be seen at night, the AirPro Delmar aerating fountain, which is a floating lake fountain with aeration, seemed the perfect option. Our aerating fountain proposal SS2 Delmar Aerating Fountain After inspecting the size and shape of the lake our technical team proposed an AirPro 4 diffused aeration system to efficiently aerate all areas of the lake. A diffused aeration system pumps air through diffuser membranes and makes its way to the lake surface in the form of millions of tiny bubbles. As these bubbles travel upward they entrain water with them. This water is carried to the lake surface where it becomes naturally oxygenated, thus aerating your lake. A 2 HP Select Series 2 Delmar Aerating Fountain was also proposed with 4 35watt LED lights to provide a stunning feature to be enjoyed day and night. A control panel that could also be used remotely was proposed for safety and ease of operation. Floating lake fountains have many benefits over traditional fountain pump systems that are usually mounted on the lake bed. Pumps at the bottom of lakes are susceptible to debris such as leaves and weeds getting caught up in them, causing faults to develop or over heating. Our floating lake fountains are intelligently designed. There are minimal obstructions and a clear passageway for the water flow at all times, so no blockages. All Heathland fountains come with high specification oil-filled motors to greatly extend motor life and power efficiency. Many of our long-term customers have already benefited from our maintenance programs and have fountains that are running efficiently after 10 years. Installation of the Delmar aerating fountain Once the client approved the proposal our team travelled to Hodnet in Shropshire with all the required equipment to complete the installation. The diffusers were placed in positions to ensure that they were able to aerate all areas of the lake. The compressor was placed towards the back of the island so it would be hidden by the lodge when viewed from the house. The weighted airline from the compressor was trenched within the island from the compressor to the edge of the bank ensuring it was out of sight. Heathland Group supplies a large range of standard fountain patterns and aerator packages but we also design and build bespoke fountains and aerators. Organised Chaos – Aston Clinton Designing Architectural decking with Millboard Limed Oak. The exterior garden design of this project had to use the interior palette and the minimalist design of the property as a reference. limed washed over reclaimed oak timbers, hidden detail, trims and warm coloured strip lighting backed with stainless plate. The excavation revealed a historic find. 50 square metres of lime stone sets, normally these are granite and rarity to find them in lime stone. we added to the design and created a path… You can see through the property; a window opposite the front door. This allowed the vista to allow your eyes to wonder through the property and across the garden, this is where we decided to continue these straight lines by adding the path. Quirky elements of the design led to concrete monoliths, brutal in their shape that stood out from the decking. Illuminated during the evening, the shadows were incredible. A precise laser cut rill cover with CorTen steel water flowing from custom-made banquette seating and a matching table. The plants were a mass of swathe planting of grasses. Festuca, Miscanthus Vr, Stipa and Pennisetum’s, Calamagrostis are a selection of the scheme. The ground cover Rubus calycinoides (creeping raspberry). An aged Olea Europa olive tree has the centre of the main decking platform.

This landscape took on new life with a complete transformation into a French-country style retreat. On this smaller site, an existing pool was removed and the new one situated so as to maximize space. Sheer descent fountains add an elegant touch, and a hidden pool cover protects without detracting from the aesthetic. We created an upper terrace for dining, with staircases that flow out into the lower level, to a central fountain and a path that leads to a garden room with fire pit, terracotta accents, and dwarf olive trees. The sense of calm and enclosure is enhanced by tall hedges and custom screening arbors, and plantings of roses and lavender add to the Provençal charm.

HNA Hardscape Project Award Winner Wayne Pool Wayne, New Jersey Monello Landscape Industries Design elements and features include six multi level paver patios, three permeable paver patios, and a sunken pool bar and kitchen with seating inside and outside the pool. A 20 foot double water falls drops into a pond with glass panels that separate the pool from the pond enabling views of koi. A 24 in. by 30 foot running/trickle water wall over natural stone into the the pool is also features. Additional items include three built-in bistro tables, a 20 foot high boulder wall system featuring perennial garden plantings, and floating boulders built into the pool. Design challenges included a 12 foot high bar wall engineered with ¾ in. rebar and a solid concrete pour. Lower levels of the patio system were built and excavated below the water table level, so an extensive and creative drainage system was installed. In addition, water pumps were active during construction. Trenching was so extensive under and around the hardscape areas that all soil had to be removed from the site and replaced with compacted clean stone so there was no threat of future settlement. There was over 1500 cubic yards of soil removed from the site and over 1500 yards of aggregate trucked into the site.
