A well balanced kitchen is created by utilising the existing unused fireplace as the niche for the freestanding gas oven and built in under-mount range hood.
The expansive underbench cabinetry continues around to the existing timber windows, then drops to create a window seat sitting area. Within the back wall cabinetry there is an under-mount white stone sink with white and chrome sink mixer for hand washing.
Sleek push-to-open overhead cabinetry are complemented by the herringbone layed textured subway tiles - with grout kept white to soften the over all look.
A slimline LED Bar pendant light is suspended over the island bench for added interest and work space lighting.
The black wenge island is a bold feature featuring 3 banks for push to open drawers.
The fridge, dishwasher and double washing up sink is located in the butlers pantry to the left.

This contemporary kitchen has some unique features. The island has 3 levels – a lower level Calcutta marble countertop for prepping, rolling, or mixing; a mid-level with the same height and material as the main perimeter countertops (Caesarstone “Blizzard”); and a slightly higher level made with a custom-designed maple table that fits over the end of the island counter.
Although the custom table required extra time and consideration, the challenge to design it was well worth it. It is a pivotal element in the space and is both highly functional and aesthetic. Its inventive flexible design allows it to be moved to any side of the island. Moreover, by simply adding a leg, it easily converts into a free-standing table that can be positioned anywhere in the room. This flexibility maximizes its versatility. It can be arranged so guests can dine in close proximity to family members or it can be relocated where food and drinks can be served off to the side and out of the way.
The table’s custom maple finish ties in well with the existing fireplace and bookshelf in the sitting room.

Nestled into sloping topography, the design of this home allows privacy from the street while providing unique vistas throughout the house and to the surrounding hill country and downtown skyline. Layering rooms with each other as well as circulation galleries, insures seclusion while allowing stunning downtown views. The owners' goals of creating a home with a contemporary flow and finish while providing a warm setting for daily life was accomplished through mixing warm natural finishes such as stained wood with gray tones in concrete and local limestone. The home's program also hinged around using both passive and active green features. Sustainable elements include geothermal heating/cooling, rainwater harvesting, spray foam insulation, high efficiency glazing, recessing lower spaces into the hillside on the west side, and roof/overhang design to provide passive solar coverage of walls and windows. The resulting design is a sustainably balanced, visually pleasing home which reflects the lifestyle and needs of the clients.

Ditching the hectic city life in favour of a more relaxed pace in the country, empty nesters Chris and Veronica decided to uproot their life in Sydney and move to their holiday home, nestled in the lush rolling hinterland of Bangalow, Byron Bay.
Forming part of a larger extension and renovation, the client’s desire for their new kitchen was to create a visual centrepiece for the home that made an impactful statement whilst still remaining welcoming, relaxed and family friendly. As avid entertainers, it was a priority that the kitchen had a semi-commercial feel, was well equipped with high-grade appliances, durable surfaces and designated work zones to facilitate catering for large parties and events.
Both partners have travelled extensively to far corners of the world collecting beautiful things, there was a natural desire for the space to reflect their global style and layer a mix of sentimental and bohemian inspired pieces from all over the world.
