These creative ostrich plant holders are designed to showcase flowers artfully, as the contents of the round basket you include mimic an ostrich's plumes. Available in two sizes, each piece of garden art is handcrafted from the ground up and exhibits its own distinctive characteristics.
This handmade item is crafted from recycled material and is suited for both indoor and outdoor use. When used outdoors, a natural patina will develop over time. It is suggested that you treat this sculpture before use outdoors to preserve the material.

This vegetable garden is used year round. It is set up with an automatic watering system for a busy homeowner. The large containers are livestock watering troughs; tall enough to keep small dogs out.

On this steep slope the view from the upper deck shows the curves and circles in the new garden and the 180 degree city view. The terrace was recessed into the landscape on one side and extended onto a slope on the other side to maximize the space. The grid trellis holding the garden swing will soon have clematis vines reaching over the top. It will be painted to match the house siding. The stone steps leading down from the terrace lead to an urban orchard and vegetable garden

Just to shake things up, Purple Wandering Jew (Tradescantia pallida 'Purple Heart') provides a strong contrast to the warm colors. A small redleaf Japanese Maple that was struggling in the back yard will eventually soften the view of the raised wood fence.

Sanguisorba 'Tanna'. Small flowers on nose-height wire stems. Adds height and movement, but won't block light. Try it with pale yellow Cephalearia Gigantea. Photo Ben Fearnside

What lies beyond this enchanting archway? The secluded walkway guides visitors through a shady glen of ferns, coral bells, lady’s mantle and hakonechloa and out to a broad landscape reminiscent of Tuscany, which is the place these clients find their inspiration.
This island bed has contrasting green hues in the spring, with Euphorbia Shorty, Lavender and Santolina along the edges of the Pea Stone pathway. The purple Smoke Bush bloom beautifully complements the composition.

This project was an entry to the Water Wise Landscape Recognition Program in Brantford. Features include: Spillway from downspout directed to supply water to drip-line of young Red Maple. This replaced a lawn that was in constant battle with invasive weeds and crabgrass. The grade of the yard was changed to retain as much rain water as possible to significantly reduce run-off. All plants used require little to no water need outside of what Mother Nature provides.

This screen was salvaged from my client's storage. We welded rings to hold terracotta pots and made a pretty wall planter to add interest to a bare wall.
