Main staircase:
Back in 1970’s, the house was divided into flats, the original staircase removed and a kitchen was installed in this space instead. When we deal with period properties, it is very important to be true to the building therefore, we brought back the original layout of the house and (with some research into Victorian floor plans) we designed and built the staircase the way it would have been made 136 years ago. We installed a dado rail to match the period with Oak flooring to bring back the old charm.

LLI Design
Although the existing entrance hallway was a good size it lacked character. To address this the stained glass in the fan light window above the front door and side window was reinstated, in a bespoke design, bringing light, colour and texture into the hallway.
The original tiled floor had long been removed so a period style crisp black and white tile with a border pattern was specified. This immediately visually increased the size and lightness of the hall area.
Nigel Tyas were commissioned to produce a dramatic copper and glass pendant light in the stairwell that hung from the top floor ceiling down to the ground floor, giving a visual connection and really creating a wow factor.
Igloo Design
by painting everything white we had the opportunity to highlight what we wanted to showcase. We used these Marcel Wanders glazed ceramic tiles on the risers highlight each step and create a playful invitation to the space above

Hand Painted Mural
The hand painted mural is reminiscent of a Verdure tapestry. Trees branch up and over door frames. The movement of the painting follows the line of the staircase. The task of climbing the stairs is transformed into a pleasant walk on the forest path.
Sundance Colors
The owner of the house lived in Singapore for several years. We combined the old Victorian with the art and some modern furniture. I like the way this complimentary color scheme of an aqua and orange works.
Thank you Ansley Braverman for a lovely photo session!
