We did a minimal upgrade of the kitchen, while a future complete renovation is planned. Existing cabinets and floor tile were painted, hardware changed. New fixtures and paint throughout. Maletz Design

The classic modern design of this kitchen was planned for an active young family of four who uses the space as their central hub for gathering, eating and staying connected. Our goals were to create a beautiful and highly functional kitchen with an emphasis on cabinet organization, heated floors and incorporating a live edge slab countertop. We removed an existing bulky island and replaced it with a new island that while only 60 x 26 in size packs a powerful punch housing a baking center, trash/recycle center, microwave oven and cookbook storage. The island seemed the natural place for the gorgeous live edge slab coupled with vintage mercury glass light pendants that make for a truly stunning kitchen island. Polished carrara quartz perimeter counters pair beautifully with the watery blue-green glass backsplash tile. A message center conveniently located on a side panel of the refrigerator cabinet houses built in mailboxes, a family calendar and magnetic surface to display the children’s artwork. We are pleased to have met the family’s goals and that they love their kitchen. Design mission accomplished!

Bilotta Kitchen & Home
This “before” Manhattan kitchen was featured in Traditional Home in 1992 having traditional cherry cabinets and polished-brass hardware. Twenty-three years later it was featured again, having been redesigned by Bilotta designer RitaLuisa Garces, this time as a less ornate space, a more streamlined, cleaner look that is popular today. Rita reconfigured the kitchen using the same space but with a more practical flow and added light. The new “after” kitchen features recessed panel Rutt Handcrafted Cabinetry in a blue finish with materials that have reflective qualities. These materials consist of glass mosaic tile backsplash from Artistic Tile, a Bridge faucet in polished nickel from Barber Wilsons & Co, Franke stainless-steel sink, porcelain floor tiles with a bronze glaze and polished blue granite countertops. When the kitchen was reconfigured they moved the eating niche and added a tinted mirror backsplash to reflect the light as well. In this after photo, a counter depth refrigerator is located where the range once was, with a full length pantry. The counter on the right is convenient to land food in and out of the refrigerator. All the lower cabinets are drawers. Designer Julia Kleyman specified hardware on the large drawers be mounted at the top to avoid unnecessary bending. The old phone was kept for convenience. The original door was cut in half and retrofitted to act like a gate to confine a dog from the rest of the house.

Spectacular Kitchen in a tight space, is convenient, lets in natural light and provides cross ventilation
McLennan Contracting, Inc.
This remodel required a plan to maintain its original character and charm while updating and modernizing the kitchen. These original custom cabinets on top of the brick backsplash brought so much character to the kitchen, the client did not want to see them go. Revitalized with fresh paint and new hardware, these cabinets received a subtle yet fresh facelift. The peninsula was updated with industrial legs and laminate countertops that match the rest of the kitchen. With the distressed wood floors bringing it all together, this small remodel brought about a big change.
