In this project we transformed a traditional style house into a modern, funky, and colorful home. By using different colors and patterns, mixing textures, and using unique design elements, these spaces portray a fun family lifestyle. Photo Credit: Bob Fortner

This previously unused breezeway at a family home in CT was renovated into a multi purpose room. It's part family room, office and entertaining space. The redesign and renovation included installing radiant heated tile floors, wet bar, built in office space and shiplap walls. It was decorated with pops of color against the neutral gray cabinets and white shiplap walls. Part sophistication, part family fun while functioning for the whole family.

This living area was transformed into a show-stopping piano room, for a modern-minded family. The sleek lacquer black of the piano is a perfect contrast to the bright turquoise, chartreuse and white of the artwork, fabrics, lighting and area rug.

AK found the house filled with wallpaper from the 1980's. Wallpaper from every room was removed and all trim had to be painted a neutral color. The formal dining room only had one entry. AK opened up a second entry into the dining room which provided a view of the Chesapeake Bay. Extensive custom millwork can be seen throughout the entire home, but especially in the family room. Floor-to-ceiling windows and French doors with cremone bolts allow for an abundance of natural light and unobstructed water views.

This loft space was transformed into a cozy media room, as an additional living / family space for entertaining. We did a textural lime wash paint finish in a light gray color to the walls and ceiling for added warmth and interest. The dark and moody furnishings were complimented by a dark green velvet accent chair and colorful vintage Turkish rug.
