“I have worked with John on an extensive home renovation. He is a great architect to work with and I am pleased to being doing another project with him. He has a wonderful collaborative and inclusive approach, which means the clients and professionals working on the project all feel valued.”

“I was in the process of updating my kitchen and a few other areas of my house, and though I knew what I had in mind I just needed that extra inspiration to make sure I got it right the first time! I had heard about Emma through the grapevine and decided to ask for her help. She was so friendly and helpful to deal with and totally understood what I wanted. With her expertise she sourced beautiful products that I would never have been able to find myself and made me look outside the square with colour choices and textures. What I also loved was that some of the things I originally wanted to change she made me look at in a new light and realise that with some smaller subtle changes I didn't actually have to change as much as I thought, which much to my husbands delight was a cost saving. I certainly could not have achieved the same results on my own without her inspiration, or had the choice of so many product options, which made all the difference in the world and added so much more value to our house. Emma is a true professional, with a great sense of style, who provides an awesome service. She is so friendly, competent and up to date with what is happening in the design field. I would have no hesitation in recommending her to family and friends and have indeed done so. She will certainly be my go to person from now on for whatever I am doing in my own home. Thank you so much Emma!”

“I have never seen anyone get more excited about a new building than the people of Redcliffs. I could barely get any work done!
The story starts, as so many others in Christchurch, with earthquakes and demolition. The team at Young Architects has close ties to the neighbourhood, and was involved in the rebuild of the community library from the very beginning. They took up the challenge of designing an inviting public meeting space that reflects its community. From the red colour of the building to the gable construction reminiscent of the spines on a bookshelf, the library is a space Redcliffs is very proud of, as I soon learned.
Since I happen to live down the road, I did more than my usual share of bullying the client into involving me. I knew the semi-translucent gable would be perfect for blue hour photography once finished. I got really excited picturing the final images in my mind's eye.
When Greg Young and I finally toured the library, the degree of pride in the community was almost overwhelming. People stopped us repeatedly in the streets to tell their library stories, express how proud they are, and what a good guy Greg is. There were even a few hugs.
While I was shooting the building a little while later, people repeatedly told me how happy they were with their new library. It was touching to see how connected everyone felt with this space. I hope the images will do the project justice.”

“Daniel is a visionary. Each of his buildings has it's own unique identity. He positioned our property perfectly on the existing piece of land and kept to our brief that the house appear to meld into its surroundings and yet be on a grand scale. One of our key requests was for a large garage to accommodate our cars, but we didn't want a face a large bank of garage doors as we drove into our home. Our architect designed the doors around a courtyard, cleverly disguising them so that they are seemingly part of a wall. He also listened to our requests and accommodated them where he could within the restrictions of our land and height to boundary. He was able to convince us that where the ceilings were not as high on the top floor as we originally wanted them to be, this would not be a problem as he had created a "floating" roof.
He also helped us with the interior decoration of the home, providing suggestions on colours of walls and flooring. He worked with me on an idea I had for a double height bookshelf, which has become a focal point in the lounge. He even "created" a wonderful wax paneled wall in the dining room that is a unique work of art.
There were some miscommunications, mainly centered around the kitchen and the wardrobes that I had very specific ideas about. If I were to start all over again, I would probably consider using a kitchen designer to work with me on my requirements. At the end of the day, however, I am happy with the end result, just not quite the trauma of getting there.
The result is a home that fulfills all our needs and more, and is a pleasure to live in and I would highly recommend this firm and it's architects to anyone.”
Lynda Slaney Architects Ltd
Architects
“Lynda is our architect on the renovation and extension of our Auckland villa. She was recommended to us by our builder and, having worked with a number of architects in the past, has exceeded all of our expectations to date. She is extremely efficient, replying to every email and query in record time; takes all of our (many!) ideas on board, while also pushing back when necessary. Bringing her significant experience to the table she has produced a final design that beautifully tackles our challenging site, complements our existing house while also introducing a forward thinking modern new extension, and has done so within our budget.”
Designpoint Architecture
Architects
“I engaged Designpoint with a fairly detailed brief and some clear functional ideas. The most important aspect for me was the ability to work together over detailed aspects of the design in order to understand the final outcome. I enjoyed the working relationship and found Designpoint very available and easy to engage with. The design of this 400m2 contemporary house was completed on time and to a fixed budget. The engagement between Designpoint and the builder enabled a speedy completion of Code Compliance at the end of the project.
I am totally satisfied with the finished outcome of the design including positioning on a 1500m2 site and the connection with final landscape effects.”

“We absolutely love what Sophie came up with for us. She carefully listened to our varied and complex requirements and provided us with a range of solutions to consider - we ended up with something we are so happy with. We felt she really took the time to hear our thoughts, and provided such a wealth of knowledge to guide us. We're so excited for our new house!”
MCAS - Max Capocaccia Architecture Studio
Architects
“When it came to building our own house, Max and his team came on board to help put the finishing touches on the design and detail up our plans. They were very accommodating, considering that, as clients who work in the industry, we were very much a part of the process. Max helped to push some aspects of the design architecturally, and we are really happy with the end result. They were professional but still approachable and friendly to deal with. MCAS are passionate about sustainable design, which is very important to us too, so they were a great fit for us and our project.”

“Kate's used her professional's knowledge and experience in renovating small spaces to create a kitchen plan that makes the best use of space, is functional and looks great. The Concept design plan was innovative, beautiful and created elements that I hadn't previously considered.
