“We engaged Alpha 1 Builders to undertake a significant (complete) overhaul of our 1920's bungalow and extension in Mt Albert. Alpha 1 impressed us from our first meeting. Paul was attentive and friendly and struck us as being genuinely interested in working with us to get the best outcome. As part of his pricing he demonstrated his attention to detail, eking out dozens of details we hadn’t even considered, and bringing through many of his proposed local subtrades to help with accurate pricing and giving us a chance to meet the team. The whole team are a very easy bunch of guys to like. They all care about what they do. Paul is very quality focussed and wants to ensure great outcomes. Very open and down to earth – easy to communicate with. We loved working with Foreman Mike as well. Got to know him well over the project and enjoyed all interactions. We loved how the guys are always looking for ways to do things smarter or achieve better outcomes. This ranged from material substitutions (architects often spec the “best” items) such as painted shiplap pine rather than cedar to save $$$ and require less maintenance, to details on interfaces that were overlooked on plans and required early discussion while there was opportunity for modification/clarification. They don’t just ‘do’, they think about what they are trying to achieve. Overall, we were very impressed with the quality of work and attention to detail, particularly with the finishing touches. We would happily recommend to anyone looking for a quality outcome from guys who care about your project as much as you do! Katherine & Paul”

“I recently purchased a splash back from Lucy for our newly renovated kitchen. I knew as soon as I saw it on her website that I wanted it. Dealing with Lucy has been super easy and we received the splash back less than 2 weeks after paying our deposit. I love it even more than I did from the picture on the website, it just looks so much better in real life, if that is at all possible. It finishes our kitchen off perfectly. Thank you Lucy for your gorgeous design.”

“We contacted Natalie because we'd seen her work in some magazines and liked her interpretation of English style kitchens, having worked in the UK for some top kitchen design/build companies. We asked her to come up with some ideas that would make our kitchen work better than the already good one we had but it was getting tired after 20+ years. It had to be in keeping with the villa style of the house and look like antique furniture rather than an add-on. The results are nothing short of sensational. We are absolutely delighted with the beautiful details of all the special things she designed or selected like the custom cornices and door/drawer mouldings, display shelves and cabinets with discreet but incredibly effective strip lighting, a marble-like finish on the quartzite bench top (more durable and practical) with finely detailed edging and much much more. She went to enormous lengths to get the best suppliers and trades people on the job, selecting the colour and finish perfectly for the solid timber cabinetry, the bench edge and every other conceivable detail. I am an industrial designer and my partner is a fashion designer so we had our own ideas. Natalie took those and turned them into something truly exceptional. We debated many of her ideas, always ending up agreeing on something that worked for us. Even our laundry is a show piece with display shelves for our vases, a quartzite splashback and brass fittings in keeping with the rest of the house. If you want a beautiful kitchen and/or laundry), we strongly recommend Natalie. In fact we are already talking to her about our bathrooms :-)”
