“We worked with architect Kate from Milieu Architecture on a major renovation of our home in 2023/2024, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience and the result. From the outset, Kate was incredibly efficient, organised, and proactive, keeping the entire process moving smoothly and clearly communicating at every stage. While Kate listened to our vision for the house, she also introduced us to new design concepts and materials that we would have never considered on our own. She also helped with the interior design of our home, helping source beautiful tiles, stone and flooring, and helping with colour choices. She worked extremely well with our builders, creating a positive, professional working relationship, which we think helped in the overall building process, saving us time and money. “We engaged Alpha 1 Builders to undertake a significant (complete) overhaul of our 1920's bungalow and extension in Mt Albert. Alpha 1 impressed us from our first meeting. Paul was attentive and friendly and struck us as being genuinely interested in working with us to get the best outcome. As part of his pricing he demonstrated his attention to detail, eking out dozens of details we hadn’t even considered, and bringing through many of his proposed local subtrades to help with accurate pricing and giving us a chance to meet the team. The whole team are a very easy bunch of guys to like. They all care about what they do. Paul is very quality focussed and wants to ensure great outcomes. Very open and down to earth – easy to communicate with. We loved working with Foreman Mike as well. Got to know him well over the project and enjoyed all interactions. We loved how the guys are always looking for ways to do things smarter or achieve better outcomes. This ranged from material substitutions (architects often spec the “best” items) such as painted shiplap pine rather than cedar to save $$$ and require less maintenance, to details on interfaces that were overlooked on plans and required early discussion while there was opportunity for modification/clarification. They don’t just ‘do’, they think about what they are trying to achieve. Overall, we were very impressed with the quality of work and attention to detail, particularly with the finishing touches. “I recently purchased a splash back from Lucy for our newly renovated kitchen. I knew as soon as I saw it on her website that I wanted it. Dealing with Lucy has been super easy and we received the splash back less than 2 weeks after paying our deposit. I love it even more than I did from the picture on the website, it just looks so much better in real life, if that is at all possible. It finishes our kitchen off perfectly.
