We live in a 1920s character home. There is solid wood paneling in part of the lounge/dining. Although I appreciate this rustic look (it has a rough finish with knots and cracks) it makes the area dark and the wooden door frames and fireplace get lost in all the wood. I would love to retain a rustic look but lighten it all up. There is about a 1" gap between the boards with a mauve color behind it! I have tried to paint white between some of the boards bit I don't think it lightens things up enough. Any ideas! Thanks in advance!
