For me, your bedroom is missing two things - style cohesion and texture. For starters, I would replace the white pillow with two of these: [houzz=] Your bedside lamps are nice, but now with the gray comforter they need a new style: [houzz=] There's an outlet right where a headboard would go, so instead, I like this art over your bed: [houzz=] or if you prefer some color and something quirky: [houzz=] For curtains, see if you like any of these: [houzz=] or [houzz=] or [houzz=] For nightstands, try these: [houzz=] If you decide to paint your wall charcoal gray, be sure to add art with color behind the bed.

We are planning to use a dark taupe on one side of the lounge (left wall as seen in plan), and the same dark taupe in each of the bedrooms (1 side only, wall behind bed). Is this a good idea or would u prefer using a diff colour for bedrooms? Thanks

I'd like to suggest that the most important thing here is more about who is using the room. If It's a child's bedroom use lovely children's curtains - there's so much around and any pattern could pick up the wall and floor colours. If a guest room and not used often I'd suggest a beautiful velvet or good quality Linen and forbid the little ones from going in to that room!!!!!! alternately a blind attached at floor level could be raised or lowered so the view is still there but with privacy from waist height perhaps. OK - I'm a beginner here on Houzz so my opinion isn't worth a lot but here it is: the room is a bit bland and lacking in character. I think you have to find some pieces you really love to bring it alive. All the suggestions are good for widening your horizons, but ultimately, you need to find things that matter to you, because it's your home and not a magazine photoshoot. That said, if it were me, I'd throw a couple of small, colorful rugs down, and put either one large painting or three smaller ones over the bed - not in a line but at different heights - to break up the binary look. I'd also put something on the wall above the heater. Then, play around with a few cushions and maybe a quilt that picks up some of the colours in your artwork.
