How much does it usually cost to remove wooden floors and replace with carpet?
Comments (3)HI Emily Carpeting bedrooms is only dictated by your budget. The only variable is the price of the carpet, all other costs (installation, smoothedge, underlay) will be the same no matter what you choose. When you say remove wooden floors....do you know what is already installed? If you are only wanting to take the wood from the bedrooms but leave it in hallways etc, then the cost to remove wood planks (laminate?) may be around $20 per m2... A lot depends on how the timber was installed, so I think it's best to get in a professional and get a free quote. Good luck....See MoreChoice of carpet.
Comments (3)Country house implies more of nature comes in on the shoes...may be a hard surface floor with some wonderful area rugs would be the way to go...cheap carpet usually looks nice only a fraction of the lifetime of the carpet and doesn't hold up in the traffic areas...also the carpet defines the decor options over time where area rugs an be rotated and replaced more easily...if all over carpet is your only choice, quality is the best choice over time....See MoreWooden floors or carpet? What is your preference and why?
Comments (9)We are a little biased, but wood floors are versatile, durable, clean, and timeless. Whereas carpet will eventually need to be replaced, high quality wood floors can last forever. You can install radiant heat under the wood floors if you are worried about them being too cold during certain times of year, and you can easily install area rugs over the flooring. Wood flooring is also more versatile than it has ever been so you can create any look. As an added bonus you can easily sweep and mop your wood floors, whereas with Carpet you don't always know what is lying below the surface. Good luck!...See MoreNeed help deciding on what colour to stain floor boards
Comments (8)Get the professional sander guys in to repair the living areas and kitchen but don't go too dark with the stain as it will kill the lovely grain in the matai. I'm thinking a couple of tones richer than the timber knots showing in your photo, definitely no yellow tone at all. In NZ stepping on to carpet especially in a kiwi winter is so much nicer than a cold floor board shock!!! A nice area rug for the lounge and you're done....See Morecloudpants
