Need backsplash advice

Wondering what backsplash we can use in the kitchen. Was thinking somewhat white glass tile, or light gray. Need help!

How about a larger size subway tile with a handmade look? Check out Stonepeak Aura tile collection. It's different but classic.

There are many examples on houzz of contrasting counters for perimeter and island. For example butcher block on island and stone on perimeter or a solid color on one and something with movement on another. I would only mix two stones if one had movement and one was fairly solid. The stainless on perimeter and something else on island sounds good to me. Here is a pic of stainless counters with what looks like a stone breakfast bar. No your roof can't support that weight, it's designed to hold the weight of shingles only. You will need to contact a structural engineer to come up with a plan to support the additional load.

You should remove the cork first as tiles need a flat and even surface to go on. Definitely remove the cork.
