New living room is long and narrow and has openings and windows on all sides. It's a beautiful space but I can't figure out the best configuration for seating, tables etc. We are a family of four with lots of get togethers. Any suggestions?
Our suggestion would be to create two seating areas since the space is long and narrow. You can get pieces that complement each other and can be placed together when you have your get togethers.
What kind of furniture do you have? How do you plan to use the space? What is the natural traffic pattern though the room - in other words, what rooms are adjacent? What kind of sunlight comes in? What is around the fireplace? Is that as closet in the corner?
Just looking at it quickly without asking too much, I would do 3 areas. I would put a nice couch, size questionable, in front of the fireplace with maybe a chair on either side facing each other like a square in front of the fire with a nice rug. Then 2 other areas, one on each end with maybe an area with a game table and the other a nice seating area for reading etc. and some nice lamps. Good luck.
