Need help with exterior
Comments (8)In order to suggest specific plants, I need to know what part of the country you live in. There are no shade trees it seems. I would take down the two shrubs at the front of the walk, including the purple one. Sorry. You can get the purple back elsewhere. They are overbearing and there's no symmetry. At the right corner of your home, not too close where the roots will damage the foundation or branches at maturity will touch the house, place a medium sized ornamental tree. At front, left corner, behind the mailbox ( you need a bigger, more updated one), maybe 5 feet to the right, place another tree. Pull out all the plants that are along the house and replace with evergreens, box woods? Just depends where you live. I would also pull out the white ground cover near the wall, just on the right, in order to achieve symmetry. I would paint the cream stucco a shade of gray darker than your roof and keep the trim white. Also, a new handrail would help freshen up the entry....See MoreNeed help on the exterior for more traditional look...
Comments (9)Heres what i was thinking of doing - change the roof and gutter to a dark grey or charcoal ... render the facade and paint a cream colour..changes the windows to a french style ( small squares) .. change the railing to a black traditional one..and put a darker cream trim around the windows and garage door.. Any other suggestions or comments ??...See MoreNeed thoughts for backyard.
Comments (7)I would clean up first. Especially the stuff growing in the paving. Then get gardening with pot plants and start experimenting with different plants and the positions. See what you like and if you can keep it alive! Our house has the sun setting over the back fence and we've done a few inexpensive things to reduce that issue (most expensive were outdoor blinds around the verandah) but for most of the year we just don't want to be out there. It is hard work to keep the plants going in summer, there is a lot of sand due to the difficulty in keeping lawn alive and it is just bloody hot. So, that's why I'm saying clean up, start gardening small and see how you go before committing to structures that might not address the real issues you have with the yard. Just my 2 cents! :)...See MoreNeed help with garden which is on west side with entry to the plot fro
Comments (1)I have not heard anything bad about having doors that open from any direction of the house and as you have not confirmed which country you live in I can not even predict where the worst of the winds would come from. I live in NZ and my front door faces North West. Where I live that is the worst / strongest winds that we have so the only negative for me is on a story day I might be blown down the steps or the rain might soak me as I try to unlock the door. I have simply eliminated what I can by adding a glass roof above my front deck. My back door faces south east and again the weather was and is the only problem so I enclosed this area with a porch which allows me to have the door open most days, almost all year round. NZ's bad weather comes from the south and the sun is in the North. If you are also in a similar location / southern hemisphere then your plan shows me your house is perfectly positioned for the best of the sun. I think you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Don't listen to negative comments make the most of what you have and if you need to make small adjustments for wind, rain or too much sun. ENJOY YOURSELF AND YOUR NEW HOME....See Moreianthy
