Thanks for your great question. With planning kitchens ergonomically for my Activity Zoning™ system where food is positioned to suit its practical use, we tend to find the traditional big-cupboard pantry not so effective. Here, most cans, baking needs etc are containerised in accessible electric open-close Aventos cupboards above, while oils, spices, biscuits and snack bars are in dedicated drawers below. Works like a dream! And adds spaciousness as so much clean, open bench space gained. Let me know if i can help with this phenomenal organisation tool for your project. :-)
