How much space should you leave around a dining table?
Comments (5)For chair scoot and sit space, I'd follow the guidelines for a rug - 4' all around. Then you want to be able to navigate around the table while people are seated, so add another 18" all around. Are you locating the table at the end of the galley? Comments (2)Round, 60 inches. Rectangle 6 x 3 . Allow 12 to 18 inches for chair, and another 12 to 18 inches for the pull back. Good luck!...See MoreWhat colour dining table to neutralise all this wood!?
Comments (12)Also take a look at Room and Board....they have several tables with different wood finishes or wood/steel/metal bases and a good selection of various tabletop materials. Also if you prefer a wood table, an area rug underneath the table could also help to break up all of the wood too....See Morewidening my lovely old table
Comments (3)You can of course have a furniture repair business add material and refinish. Or you can add a center accent piece of tile, or wood inlay. If you're going from a narrow rectangle to a square, you would need to disassemble the table anyway, might as well do something fun with it....See MoreUser
