Looking for help on bedrooms layout
Comments (29)I think the first layout is fine. You might want to consider moving the door for the storage room of the master bedroom so that it opens into the hall. That way the kids can use it for overflow storage. Also, that hallway is big enough that I think it could hold a large armour, providing more closet space. (There's no need to sleep in the same room as your clothes, so long as they're not too far off.) Also, don't forget that while the drawing shows kids in double beds, this need not be the case, so there will be more room for furniture (dressers or whatever) in their rooms. Finally, that step to bedroom 4 will not be odd at all. I've seen it in other homes. It looks clumsy in the drawing but it isn't. What you'll see when you come up the stairs is a bedroom door on a slight diagonal. It's only an odd jagged step if you walk like a robot, in straight lines along the wall, which is what your eye is doing on the drawing but you won't do in real life....See MoreChoosing bedroom colours - help me, please!
Comments (10)Now for Mr 16 months... I really can't decide. His room is going to be on the cold side of the house, with not so much sun so I want it to get that cozy sort of feeling when you come into it. I was thinking yellow or orange curtains? But then I don't know what colour to do the walls. These are some fabrics I like:...See MoreHelp with artwork above bed
Comments (9)I saw the neutral tones with beige/peach accents and thought -- color! I did a screen capture and put in my painting, Child of Eden, because the greens interacted so well with the room. (Not sure about the size ratio -- the framed picture is 30 x 26.) As a fine artist, I tell my clients -- when you choose artwork for your home, the most important thing to look for is what you like, and what makes you smile -- and it will fit into any color scheme you choose, simply because you love it. When we start over-focusing on matching the color scheme, we risk buying something for the color scheme first, and our liking it second. Both you, and the artwork in your home, deserve better than that....See MoreNeed Advice for a Bedroom
Comments (1)Hi I think you are correct in your thinking that you may be creating a look that does not have cohesion. Decide which feature you like best... is your heart set on the Chevron duvet (have you already purchased it), or do you like the black wall gold dot idea better? Make your choice and then remember to think "rhythm and repetition" when selecting other items for the room. For example if you decide on the black wall gold dot idea, look for a circular mirror, or a throw cushion for the bed in a circular design to pull the look together, or artwork with gold dots. If your heart is set on having both chevron and dots together your design will still work, so long as you have other items with chevron and dots! Remember there are no hard and fast rules, and a bedroom is a special space that reflects you and your personality so bend the rules and choose items that please your soul...See MoreG S
