I am renovating the kitchen/diner/lounge in my apartment. I chose engineered oak flooring, plus a thick underlay with excellent soundproofing properties. Measuring up today with the kitchen company and the flooring company, there was a hearty debate about whether to 1) lay the flooring first and kitchen cabinetry after, or 2) cabinetry installed first, and the flooring around it. I would very much appreciate any advice on this matter. Thanks in advance.

These spaces can look awkward but yours is quite inviting with those windows. It could become a retreat space, that allows someone to be near the action without being in it. Seating or lounging would work with the very low head height. I could imagine it would be a great spot for a couple of cool beanbag seats, a small funky bookshelf and a sleek retro lamp, or if you have children to cater for a games setup with storage in a retro ottoman.

Hello, I am in the beginning stages of designing (rough design, for someone more professional to finish off), and building a 50m2 single room building. I'm bound to have numerous questions as the process moves along. But for now, I have what I thought would be a simple thing to just look up online, yet it wasn't. There is a 5m height restriction in the area. The site is sloping. I've looked extensively online and couldn't find any useful information on how I determine the building height, when the site is on a slope. The only info I found referred to the height being from the ground level (prior to any earthworks commencing), to the highest point on the building. How is the "ground level" determined on a sloping building site? Also, if we dig some way into the slope, which will effectively lower the visual profile of the building, does this impact from what point we measure the building height? Does anyone know? Just after some opinions on how we should structure our walk in wardrobe in our master b/r. We have come up with two options but can't decide so if anyone has any advice/experience with each idea, please share! Drawings are to scale and the measurements of the robes are stated.
