Faux Stained glass - best option to remove/cover

Hi All, I want to get rid of the kookaburra design in what is otherwise a solid door in good condition. Anyone have any suggestions for painting/frosting over/removal of design. Will replace with clear glass if needed but hoping there was another way?

If it’s not real lead lighting, then the stickers may just peel off and leave you with a frosted window.
Try a razor blade to take stickers off?

On closer inspection it looks ‘baked’ into the glass, it’s def not read lead lighting but not a sticker either

Hi everyone, we have moved in! We didn't manage to paint before we moved and think we will go for a staged approach - above the wood panels first in a warm white then decide on the panels. I could see doing something like French doors with opaque glass so the lite could come thru to the rest of the house. Also double French doors would allow you to open the area up completely whilst doing laundry. You could even leave everything where it is (dryer) and build some storage on the left side. I would image the sink would be very useful - I'd be lost without mine in the laundry room.

Thanks for the replies! My wife suggested we talk to a local real estate agent, so i think that is a good idea... just that Im not sure how helpful they are likely to be if we arent selling yet :) As for saving for our dream house, I dont disagree, however if doing this up nicely over the next ~5 years or so while we live here nets us some extra in the eventual sale, then that of course will help us as well. Interesting thing happened today actually. I got a knock on the door and one of the older neighbours asked if he could take some lemons from the tree. I of course said yes. Anyway he was telling me he had lived in the street for 40 years. I asked him if the house had always looked like this, and he said no that ~30 years ago the old old owner did a massive renovation and pulled off the timber and put up the bricks and gutted the inside of the house. Wow! What an incredible view you have! I think you first need to frame it out. I would suggest changing out the carpet with hardwood floors with a worn or weathered look. Definitely get rid of the plastic and replace with white base moulding. Next I would paint the walls a color in the pale grey or grey/blue family. Next, I would suggest some crisp white sheers to frame each window. In the pictures, it looks like the Windows on the right are two windows wide. If so, I would also place panels in the middle of those 2 windows to continue framing the view. These are for decorative purposes only and not intended to distract from the view. It looks like there is a big space between two of the windows. I would locate a large architectural piece to place on that wall to add some interest. Remove all the small items from the window ledges. Finally, I would love a round table in that space. Good luck with your reno!

I don’t think you’re going to be able to cover the design and still maintain transparency. It’s probably too old to be safety glass so be very careful you don’t break it. Your best bet will be to have it replaced by a glazier with a glass of your choice.

unless you love the timber stain i would paint the whole door including the glass otherwise i think the only option is to replace the glass

Thanks all - I’m painting it anyway so will just paint over the glass (garage door so transparency not important) 😊

In my opinion, painting over the glass will look cheap. I would remove glass and replace with either a wooden panel insert or opaque glass.
You could sell the lead light glass on a gumtree or similar.

it would be good to salvage the panels if someone else would like to use them but in my experience the painted glass doesn't look any different to painted timber when it's prepared and coated properly
