"Depend on your location and amount of sun and soil conditions."
Yes.
Other things to think about are width and orientation and amount of time for maintenance.
If the garden bed is large then a fast growing species might achieve what you want in only a few years without any downside.
If the garden bed is narrow then soon after the hedge reaches the desired size you will be having to work to keep it to that size.
If the hedge blocks winter sun or shadows solar panels, same, you will have to work to keep it to a suitable size.
If you have conditions like where I live, avoid photinia. Our hedge has taken 10 years to reach waist-chest height.
