I am a landscape designer not interior but have had the same problem with an ensuite. Can I suggest that you loose the shower enclosure and create a wet bathroom. This will give you so much more room and options. All the bathrooms in my house are like this (I hate cleaning showers). I have had really beautiful sheer shower curtains made and when shower not in use curtain is against the wall.

I agree with the first comment about a wet floor shower. You will need to ensure the water is draining in the right direction and you don't end up with it going from the bathroom into the hallway. We have stayed in many places where they have not got this right and end up with wet carpet etc. Another comment would be to swap the toilet and vanity locations so that you are not looking directly at someone using the toilet it the door happens to be open.

I'm no bathroom expert, but have done plenty up. I purchased an Englefield shower that has two half sides that open like ranchsliders to expose a whole corner to step in and out of. It's 900 x 900 square. Saves space, and in the corner of shower I have about 6 shelves. No problems washing my long hair, having to wave arms about to do that.or

Why not look at a corner shower option. We have a small bathroom and a corner shower has given us a lot more space in the room but the shower feels roomy enough too.

You can also get corner showers with round doors or with the corner cut off. Look at the englefield shower range. They make the floor space bigger. I also don't like the toilet facing the door. I would turn it to back onto the right hand wall so it is hidden behind the shower. Have the door hinged so it opens away from the left wall against the shower to act as a privacy barrier if it is left partly open.

The showers I posted earlier do go into a corner, it's just that they are square with"ranchslider" doors that go back onto the side glass panels, exposing a whole corner to get in and out of. Doors do not open out at all. In my tiny 1970's bathroom (about 1.8 x 2.4) this has given me the feeling of space as I didn't have to allow for door opening space. Both are Englefield.

Corner showers were dismissed in my case because there's not as much room when you are in them (the cut off type), and you still have to allow space for the door to open out. Round corner showers were also dismissed because the doors are on rollers....and I've heard stories of people having difficulty cleaning them.

We have a 900x900 shower and it's plenty big enough. Neither of your proposed layouts looks that great, to be perfectly honest, sorry! In the first layout, you could improve it quite a lot by swapping the toilet and vanity (centre the toilet under the window on the bottom right of the picture if possible), and having the shower door on the other wall (beside the door). Then, you could have a towel rail on the wall beside the door (i.e. behind the door when it's open), which would be accessible from the shower but hidden when the door was open. An 800x1200 shower might be a good size for your space. You'd have to choose a toilet that doesn't protrude too far, plus a narrow vanity. With that layout, you could have a long but narrow wall-hung vanity, with a big mirror covering the wall between the windows, which would make the room feel bigger and would give a good amount of storage.

Also, I agree with the idea of putting the toilet under the right hand window next to the vanity. This will give you more space to move around in the small bathroom

Agree with the wetroom concept, but you also need to be careful not to waste space by spreading everything around the room. Use a couple tricks to give the feel of space. Open the door onto the shower, with a partial length glass screen as shown if you want to limit a bit of the water throw, but not necessary. Use a thinner long wall hung vanity with a pregnant basin, so your eye registers the extra space in front and under it - put a big mirror in - could go full width x full height if your game, and dont mind keeping it clean.... Could also install low level nightlighting on a motion sensor to cast light on the floor under the vanity for the night time visits so you dont get fully woken up. Locate the wc under the larger window, or if you want hang it as a concealed cistern off the front of the vanity as well. Plenty of room behind and beside the door for a towel rail. You can leave the small window in the shower if you treat the reveals correctly by waterproofing, sealing to window frame and overlay with tile - or remove the window. Depends whats outside.

Wet room. Open door into the centre of the room and have things arrayed from the there or you waste space in creating a walk way. Walk into the center, shower down one side, 80cm x 2m long, 120cm glass 80 to walk in. Bench down other side, 40cm deep, step in 20cm at toilet, toilet hung from bench, towel rail at end.
