What furnishings are you having? Will it be textured and fabric covered furniture? Or shiny and black and white leather?
I have only looked at the colours on my laptop screen, but the Peruvian Clay reminds me of 1980 apricot kitchens and bathrooms. But if your furniture choice is keeping with adding texture and interest with those colours then it will probably work.

You could use the stone as the backsplash. This reduces the contrast and gives your scheme three rather than two colours. If you decided on one colour for all cabinetry I would go for Dulux natural white rather than the antique as it is less creamy- still warm but more modern.

I have oak laminate flooring, leather lounge, a 70's (teak?) Dining table.

I guess I'm trying to add something fun, that has a 'modern Retro' feel......but now having doubts about the blandness of the 2 tone (hence having a blue Splashback to break it up.

I originally was after a word grain laminate but there is already enough 'wood'  happening.

What is the dark colour on your ductwork along the ceilings?

It's Dulux 'Oolong' along the support beam.

Dulux reckon it's a deep grey with a subtle blue undertone.

(*:most likely the support beam will be painted the same colour as the wall 'next time').

Walls are 'Whisper White'

I would keep it simple and beautiful, you have a lot of timber so go with a splash back same as bench top stone, add shelves between cabinets or beneath that you are installing above sink, Dulux natural white as suggested would look beautiful and more modern, add colour with kitchen decor. Thinking the dark colour along ceilings could be painted a lighter shade as it appears heavy in photos.

Yeah the brown and wood have been nagging me for the past 2 days. After reading your replies and feedback I'm now thinking (and agreeing) that there's too much wood/Brown tones going on.

Basic white is a good start (can't go wrong with white(.

I like the shelves centred above the sink,  looks great however my sink is offset due to plumbing etc below so unsure how that would look, but I can ask the kitchen people about it

Maybe a bit darker benchtop / splashback combo.

Have you thought about the domino reaction of removing the up stand in your kitchen? Where would you locate the buffet to? At the moment the up-stand hides all the things on your bench. A flat peninsula will have everything on show. Since you are not changing the foot print at all, then I hope that you are keeping the lower kitchen cabinet carcasses. You could even just keep those cabinets and change handles. Just Install your new upper cabinets. From your photos I can’t seem to see why the lower cabinets need changing. I also find the glass splash back cold and plain, even though you have chosen a colour. If you are after a retro vibe, then maybe go with a beautiful textured colour tile in gloss. The tile would still have the reflective properties and be more interesting. Notice in the photo how the aqua tiles go so well with timber or white cabinetry.
