The floor and cabinets almost look like the same color. I would lighten the cabinet color - making sure it doesn't clash with the floor color. I would also modernize the open cabinet above the microwave by removing the moulding, or adding a door. I'd find an inexpensive countertop that pops against the wood (or painted) wood cabinets. Change out the cabinet glass to clear, and do a new backsplash that brings it all together. And, finally add a cool light fixture, and maybe a kitchen rug.

~$400 including expedited shipping. My GC just had his regular countertop guy do them, which wasn't great.... he had trouble making clean cuts. If I were going to do it again I would have pressed for someone with expertise to cut them. You can see in the image that the facing is not made of the stone peak, because too much was broken during the cutting to make the mitered edge. I'm a little bummed, but mostly pleased with the surface (which is the important part) thus far.

Hi, I like using butlers sinks in my designs. (needs to be a traditionally styled house) I find the quality to cost ratio at the Belfast sinks from FL bone the best. Ceramic or granite sinks are usually more robust than colour coated stainless steel sinks. Mostly the colour scratches off relatively easy. I think its an advantage to have no benchtop between you and the sink, its very practical and a nice and clean look. Make sure your benchtop is high enough for your height. Has anyone done a stainless behcntop with an induction cooktop set into a recess formed into the stainless so the cooktop is flush with the main bench surface? I would like to do this so there is a single height surface and there is less chance of knocking things into the glass edge and potentially chipping it. Also, how well does an induction cooktop seal to the bench surface? Is there a possibility of liquid from a boiling over pot running into the cabinetry below?
