Unusual oven position- ideas on how to upgrade

We have just bought our first house. It has a spacious kitchen with lots of drawers and fairly functional so not looking at the expense of a full reno yet. The oven is not working well though so I was looking to replace it +/- the cooktop. Its a 90cm wall oven that sits on the laminate benchtop with beech coloured open wooden shelves above it. It kinda of looks like its been put in as an afterthought. The shelf immediately above the oven has been damaged (heat/ burnt) and I'd be keen to either replace this or remove it altogether. The sides also don't sit particularly flush with the oven front either (just a few mm either side).
I was considering either replacing the oven with:
1. one the exact same size (900 x 450)
2. one same width but increased height (900 x 600)- this is what we are leaning towards
3. replace with a 60cm oven or 60cm double oven- but what do we do with the excess width
Any thoughts?
Can i make it look a bit more flush with the surrounding cabinetry?
Many thanks
Kate
