I've found this photo for inspiration and I want to do something similar with the upper cabinets meeting open shelving in my super small kitchen. I'm no pro, so wondering how to treat the join where the horizontal open shelf meets the tiles (at the left end of the open shelf in the image)... do I need to cut the tiles to make a recess for the end of shelf to sit on, or can I just butt the shelf up to the tiles (obviously easier) and then hope the long edge of the shelf has all the structural support it needs? Thanks for any/all advice.
