Yes to getting the period right! My classic 1930's bungalow was given a Victorian style front door by the previous owners. It's an expensive, good quality door so will have to stay. Worse still are the 1980s replacement internal doors, curved routing and all. An act of total vandalism!

K B, Yes, completely agree. The only areas I don't care to get the period right are bathrooms and kitchen, and of course plumbing and electricity!

I'm considering a new front door as ours is boring (we moved into an 80s townhouse 15 months ago) and as I've made a large modern stained glass panel for the old amber bottle glass panel, I'd love something that worked well with it. Some of your ideas sound well worth pursuing. Thanks.
