As dusk approaches, pathlights and torch lights make the narrow space feel open and alluring. The reflective quality of the pavers and limestone contribute to safe footing. Large, white blooms of hydrangea, alternating side to side along the walk, catch the eye and provide a sense of movement. Mike Crews Photography

Behind the Tea House is a traditional Japanese raked garden. After much research we used bagged poultry grit in the raked garden. It had the perfect texture for raking. Gray granite cobbles and fashionettes were used for the border. A custom designed bamboo fence encloses the rear yard.

Client asked for a large lawn area for children and evergreen hedging ( Portugese Laurel ) for privacy. We installed a compact patio in a very sunny corner of the garden. This was always designed to be a low maintenance garden.

Ahhh....perfect imperfections of the English garden. This vignette looks like the most stunning impressionist painting. (Photo by MCrews)

This zero lot line side area was dirt with 2 overgrown, unhealthy fruit trees before I designed the area to be both eye-pleasing and functional. The desert climate demands special consideration, so artificial turf was used as a 'doggy deposit' area, while the pavers lead from the front part of the house to the rear yard with pool, spa & BBQ, with lake and golf course views beyond. A combination of small and larger rocks require no water & create a riverbed effect & contrast against the green succulents. A bench offers quiet respite and view to the lake beyond.
