Victorian PVC back porch. Constructed by Chris Walsdorf, CW Contractors of Farmington, CT. Balusters by Durabrac Architectural Components in Florida.

Salem NY renovation. This Victorian home was given a facelift with added charm from the area in which it represents. With a beautiful front porch, this house has tons of character from the beams, added details and overall history of the home.

View of porch (parlour level). This expanded exterior space replaced the code required fire stair necessary for this property's previous use as apartments.

2021 installation of initial planting: the front yard is N-facing, with some sun here in the late afternoon. Plants which can tolerate both shade and some sun, such as some cultivars of hostas, ferns and yews were chosen to eventually become expansive foundation plantings . Since the Victorians were fond of palm trees, these shade-loving palms are at home here during clement weather, but will get indoor protection during the winter. Photo credit: E Jenvey

This fabulous home had been neglected for some time, we restored the porch structure as well as the design. We sourced custom columns and spindles to match the existing original pcs. We replaced the broken down steps and refinished the hard wood floor as well as the beadboard ceiling.

This was a detailed exterior and interior restoration of an 1894 Victorian originally designed by influential architect and developer Joseph Leonard. Saikley Architects and Buestad Construction worked closely with the clients to uncover evidence of original exterior and interior details that had been removed and recreate them. Minor changes were made to the second story layout to add a bathroom for a master suite while staying true to the original feeling of the house.

One of the more common questions we get is “How do we get curved rail for our porch?”. It’s simple:
1. Send us the width and height of the curve(s). Easy instructions on how to take those two measurements are found at https://www.americanporch.com/
2. We’ll send you a quote for your approval. Orders are placed in line for production according to payment date.
3. The new curved railing shows up at your door.
Lead time on curved cedar railing is about 4-5 weeks. For curved synthetic (poly) rails, you’ll want to order about 8 weeks in advance.

This beautiful home in Westfield, NJ needed a little front porch TLC. Anthony James Master builders came in and secured the structure by replacing the old columns with brand new custom columns. The team created custom screens for the side porch area creating two separate spaces that can be enjoyed throughout the warmer and cooler New Jersey months.

The client admired this Victorian home from afar for many years before purchasing it. The extensive rehabilitation restored much of the house to its original style and grandeur; interior spaces were transformed in function while respecting the elaborate details of the era. A new kitchen, breakfast area, study and baths make the home fully functional and comfortably livable.
