Kitchen Decor & Lighting
Comments (14)Beautiful clean modern kitchen! You have a great opportunity to put your personal stamp on the space with a unique backsplash. As you've heard already there are some different approaches. I'd probably place the backsplash up to the wall cabinets and up to the base of the hood. Then continue the backsplash at the same height (18"?) behind the sink. Then place an inspiring colorful picture above the sink to break up the wall. Here's a picture with pendants that aren't too obtrusive. Having multiple levels of lighting at different lumens makes a more inviting feel to the space. I couldn't decipher your flooring, but you may also want to consider adding some nature elements like a type of wood flooring, wood stools, etc. Good luck! Comments (4)Just some ideas to think about? Uber big arc light Round uber big leather ottoman Long floor to ceiling curtains with print or color 4 inch trim on either side of the panels hung between the windows. Art work set in the cubes similar but different, as in perhaps, musical instruments, African masks, Art Deco Lallique vases, anything that reflects You translated into art. Back cubes with mirrors and put puck light in the top of each for nighttime drama and to light the art work. A large Fiddle Fig tree as the trendy green this year. Possibly smoked mirror above the TV screen as big as the cut out. Bring it on....See MoreCurtains...patterned or plain? dark or light?
Comments (4)Yes, the brown wall is actually deep purple (aubergine). The carpet is more dark grey than brown. It is not a commercial place, but a large family home, and all the extra chairs are around because we were about to have 22 in for dinner, so the table was fully extended to it's 6metres! (The lounge is totally separate to this room, this is family space, so has the old sofas for sacking out on) But I really appreciate all suggestions and comments as it would be good to pull it together, even when entertaining so many. Comments (30)I am blown away from down under by the help that you all have freely given .... thank you sooo much indeed. who would have thought after a year of anguish that I would be put out of my misery! If I do go for the atlantic for chairs I will bring in plum touches and vice versa. Will now need to go and find some plum that closely aligns with your suggestions. Thanks for saying we can keep table! It is a good solid NZ made oak one ... chairs were all the rage back about 18 years ago! Now need to go! I will put up a pic of a rug that was quite nice but rather expensive so ... might be in an hour or so. Thank you so much again....See MoreIrene Morresey
