Paint help: which grey to use with a beige ceiling

We are purchasing this home and will close in a couple weeks. This will be my daughter's nursery. Her current nursery is a very light silvery grey, but I know that would clash with the beige ceiling in this room. Which grey do you recommend I use to not clash with the ceiling. Or what color would you recommend (even if not grey). I've been considering different colors as well. Her furniture is mostly white with a large framed portrait of a mom and baby elephant taken by a friend in Africa printed black and white. Her accents are pink and we currently have some natural wood tones as well. I've attached a picture of the fabric from her sheets and the room she will be moving into. Her crib skirt is light grey with white polka dots and we have a pink and white paper mobile. Thank you!

Comments (18)Hello Marcelle, I am an interior designer . I can tell you a simple inexpensive way to change the look of your kitchen. Looking at the photo you sent the different cabinet heights , and all the objects on the stove wall are very busy . Your modern house is wanting a cleaner , simple look. I would lower the small cabinets so that the top is at the same height as the others in the room. And put doors on , that will hide the clutter. Next I would do a tile backsplash above the stove , up to the same height. The whole kitchen will be pulled together by the continuous top line. There is a small light wood cabinet with baskets in the foreground . I would paint it white , or the same dark accent color of the cabinets you have. Comments (11)Thank you all so much many of you suggested darkening the ceiling and leaving the beams the way it is to avoid too much work. What color did you guys had in mind?? isn't a lighter color suppose to open the room? Talianko and Hyde Evans and Shauna? ( I preferably will love a rustic lighter wood look, and the beams but does sound like a mission to get it done as sanding varnish on the ceiling might take me forever but if I get brave enough I might do it Sstar. Everything is white, the door handles and sides of shower/sink is silver. In the pic there is a bare wall on the right that needs painting. What colour do you think I should paint it? Comments (10)Without knowing any more info , I'd say its near impossible for anyone but you to know what colour/s to choose -- do you want the house to blend in but have its own style , or do you want it to stand out ? What colours are your main furniture items and even kitchen etc ? For xxample , if keeping the beige walls , how about doing the eves and gutters and garage door in a tangy ( bright , but not glaring ) orange -- this would work with the existing colours and not require a complete repaint . BUT if your kitchen was mainly various shades of , say , green and teal , and your lounge suite and duvet covers were mainly blue hues , that may 'feel' funny , clashing with the exterior ? Of course , blue and beige exterior may not work with the brown aluminium , as youve recognised . Another option ( a bit hard to tell from the pictures ) is that a light grey ( repaint the beige ) with mid-charcoal base boards may work with the brown aluminium , then a bright colour on the gutters and front and rear doors to suit -- anything from sea blue to bright yellow , orange , red , even white or off-white would probably work ....See More

11 years agoYou have very pretty pink and grey decor for your daughter's nursery. I would choose to paint the walls a very, very pale pink.
My favorite bedroom photo on Houzz shows this color pink in the bed covering.
