I believe the reason the tiles work well with the cabinetry is because the tile is lite in color and flat, its not rustic unlike most terracotta. The expensive cabinets work fine with the floors because of the smooth finish. The floor here is the focal point of this room. The Interior Designer or whoever did this room, did a very nice job, keeping it very simple.

The first thing I require each of my clients to do before even starting the design layout is to choose their appliances. Your kitchen designer will need the manufacturer's specifications to know what size to make the cabinets to accommodate them. Be aware that there is required distances needed around and island, typically 36" up to 48" depending on placements of appliances. This will dictate the size and shape of the island. Clean lines, simplicity, innovative materials like glass countertops, exotic woods or Italian veneer slab doors, flip or lift up doors can add unexpected touches to a modern/ contemporary space. I love that colorful floral!! it almost has a 40 vibe, and glamorous - I think it would look great in small toilet, maybe matte gold color mirror frame (and everything else white). The other floral is more retro - I prefer the glamorous florar. For the bathroom, if its a paper wallpaper I wouldn't use it beause of the moisture from showers might have the paper corners come off, and you can't really clean it - so I would skip wallpaper there. I love wallpaper and the drama it gives, but it has it challenges. But I like your choises so far, so you are on the right track. If you do something for the lounge I would do something geometric, and monogromatic more subtle.
