I would slide your lounge further left to the wall and remove the beanbag . Buy a co-ordinating chair to place at the other right end of the lounge . Buy a full motion TV wall bracket so that your TV will be angled towards the main part of the room .

You need to provide dimensions of the room and lounges, I can't work out what is around the corner that the 2 panel window is in? It's a big lounge but as you mentioned it's used for TV and chilling so works perfectly. I'am thinking that the console is too small in proportion to the TV and Lounge.

I like the first layout. The second is terrible. As above the console is too small. I love the idea of a fireplace but I don’t think you’ll get it to fit in the internal wall as marked.

Thanks! for the suggestions, im trying to avoid a swing arm tv mount i have 1 in the bedroom and i hate it. I regret not running the cabling before i had the walls re-plastered, i was trying to not have tv in the bedroom lol.

Console is likely to be replaced this was a carry over from another house it's 1.8 meters, i was going to get 2.4 meter one made only thing stopping me was if i'm committing to this layout and no fireplace in this location in the future.

I think the most logical layout is slide large couch to the left and have some type of chair in the right corner?

This is the rest of the room ignore the secondary dining area i've got a table being made for this area at the moment.

You could try sliding the couch more to left but I think original layout looks fine, not sure if you have enough room but a corner fireplace would look great, repurpose you tv cabinet between windows, you could even mount it to the wall, add gorgeous artwork, shelves are great but unless you are super vigilant with decor can look messy, a lovely black chair and a super cool grasshopper lamp would look beautiful

Thanks for that, are you saying move the couch further to the left and then put something like that black leather chair into the corner area to fill that space? As this blank space here which if i move the couch further to the left looks kinda of weird without something here.

In regards to the fireplace ill have to get the pro's in to see whats possible, that is a great idea it may work as i have lots of depth on the other side of that wall close to 1 meter and its all brick so a conversion from weird pantry to fireplace may be possible.

I think your first layout is the best, is it possible to remove been bag and slide your couch up towards that corner then you would have room for a chair near plant, going by your first photo that by removing the bean bag it would give you a lot more room. You could create something similar to this

I wouldn't be able to put the TV in the location suggested, but i could move the cabling to another exterior wall as i'm a licenesed cabler i'd only need have the sparky run an additional power point.

That would be a good idea, at the moment who ever comes intot he room walks in front of the TV and blocking the screen

We have a similar shape for dining and living. I think your couch is way too big. I would a comfy 3 seater opposite the TV, against the wall, then put a small, modern two seater and 2 small arm chairs around a small coffee table in the opposite corner to give you a cosy spot to sit and chat with friends. Zoning a large room like this with the assistance of complimentary rugs makes it much easier to manage. Putting a large lounge across the middle of the room chops up the space and blocks the flow of traffic around the room. Breaking the room up into smaller, usable spaces by placing furniture in different areas gives you better flow and more usable space.

I think lounge is also so big for the room. Can u use just one of the sectionals of lounge, remove the other and see if it works better.

This lounge room is the same shape as yours. And the same size.
This is an original 1974 home staged for sale. It gives you an idea of a furniture set up, that is the correct size for the space.

Being able to see an alternate layout is really helpful.

1 idea i did have would be to have 1 sectional sofa slid up to the left but opened at one end so it does not corner off the room at all, then you can either have shelving across the other wall or another 2 seater etc.

Sorry, I can't send photos at the moment as we are having our kitchen renovated and all the lounge furniture is stacked and covered. Our house was built in 1960 but everyone thinks it is a seventies house because it looks just like them. We have been progressively renovating and the kitchen is the last thing to do. We actually bought mid century modern style furniture from the Modern Furniture shop in New Farm/ Fortitude Valley in Brisbane, and a parker dining suite from an antique shop. (My partner hates clutter.) The area in our house that is the same as the one where you have your TV actually has had a set of internal stairs cut into it going down, and we have a piano in the remaining space with our buffet up against the balustrade. We did have our dining suite in the same space as you have yours, but it is an 8 seater, so we swapped the dining and lounge furniture and put our 2 seater sofa, 2 armchairs and oval glass coffee table against the wall opposite the kitchen. We use both more now because the dining space is bigger and the lounge space is cosy and inviting. We have a large area downstairs which we have turned into a combination mancave/TV area/ entertainment, casual dining and summer living space as the concrete floor keeps it cool and comfortable. What I love about a big space like this is that you can change it around if you find it's not working for you as it is, or if you just feel like a change. Having to keep to the TV points reduces that flexibility a bit, but maybe you could consider swapping around the dining area? It's just a matter of figuring out what works best for how you like to live, and trying out different configurations might help you do that.

If you can, replace the couch. It just doesn't work any way in that space. Buy a nice big comfortable 3 seater without the L and see what it looks like. Then you can add an occasional chair where the L of the couch used to be. You might even squeeze in an ottoman that can double up as a footrest and coffee table. You will have the same amount of seating but much more space! Good luck.

@Bonnie i agree i think this is the way forward, i have a really old 3 seater sitting in storage once all the corona virus issues pass, i'll bring that over and use it as prop to see what it looks like. I was trying to avoid selling and buying a new couch but i might have to. No rush as they say

No, the top story is the original house. The bottom was garages, laundry and other space, not quite legal height but comfortable to walk around. It was later converted to a rumpus area with a tiny bathroom and one of the garage doors on one side was replaced with sliding doors. This left a drive through tandem garage on the other side. Not sure when the internal stairs were put in but they clearly cut into the floor of the lounge room to do it. The down stairs was completely open except for the laundry, bathroom and a smal workroom opening into the garage when we purchased the house 3 1/2 years ago. We built brick walls to separate the garage and workroom from the main space and define the space around the stairs, then demolished the laundry and bathroom and changed the layout to build a new, larger bathroom, a darkroom, storage cupboards and an open laundry that work so much better for us. The rest of the space, which required only cosmetic work we coukd mostly do ourselves, and which is directly under part of the lounge, all three bedrooms and the bathroom, is a large, open summer living area that is designed both for relaxation and casual entertaining. We have planned this space very carefully after living with it for 2 summers. We are both retired and this space more than any other informs how we live. It was also one of the main reasons we bought the house as we could see the potential in the existing area. But again, the open spaces are defined by furniture and floor rugs where appropriate.
