How can I improve my living room layout?

Hi All,

After having moved into a new house we have been trying to get an optimal layout for the living room, that we mostly just use for chilling and watching TV.

It's an awkward L shape with smallish entryways.

Currently its setup as follows.

The flow doesn't work too bad at all, but it feels like the couch should be further 1 way or another.

what do people think? Should some type of occasional chair go to the right hand side? and we slide the couch further along.

I was also thinking of putting shelving along the large blank wall.

The other option was to flip the room totally such as this.

Problem with this is it essentially closes off the entire room and your walking into the back of a couch, so as a minimum i'd need to replace it.

If i go down the fireplace path which im not 100% on i could also place that here with a two sided one so it is visable from both the living room and dining room as its a unused brick pantry approx 1 meter deep and 1.4 meters wide.

This is the shelving system i am thinking of using on the large blank wall if i don't flip the room.

Thoughts / suggestions would be a big help!
