Help! My living room is very odd shaped

Hi Houzzers, I hope that you can help me with this odd shaped room. We want to put a TV on the wall where there is a tv bench. But essentially everything in the room will go, the furniture is from other rooms to provide an idea of the space. What sofa/couch can we use, that will not look odd? I am looking for ideas on the configuration as well. Would love to get some ideas, as nothing aligns. If you put the sofa in the middle of the windows, and have the TV on the wall opposite (mounted on wall no bench) then its skewed, only the person on one end can see the tv directly in front. but if the sofa is directly infront of the tv, then the sofa side covering half the window looks really odd.

What are the measurements of the room, and is that another entrance to the right of the first picture?

what about trying the TV unit where the tan lounge is, I would look at a sectional or chaise lounge, waiting to get dimensions of the room, wall to wall marking doors, openings and windows

I am planning to add scatter cushions and think if I do a pair of larger ones for each end so they go over the arms to creat height at each end, and a couple of smaller ones, I want to bring some colour in too. I do like the idea of a larger side light at either end to, Switching the sofas is going to be my final fix if all else fails!!

There is nothing worse than ceiling-mounted lights--harsh shadows, flat lighting. They are strictly for utility. I would put a large-ish, shallow cylindrical shade on them and put nothing more than a 15-watt bulb in them. Use them strictly for lighting your way as you walk through the room. I agree with Vincent; the chair in the corner doesn't fit at all, nor does the one under the A/C unit (put that one with its mate behind the love seat). And the curtains look smooshed. I think the problem with the bookcases is that they are uninteresting. Did you buy books-by-the-yard? What are all those identical books? They are visually uninteresting. I'd get rid of some of them and get some colorful ceramics/glass/photos. The room is absolutely overwhelmed with furniture. It needs one less love seat. Do you really need all of them? Pushing them against the walls/curtains so tightly just visually emphasizes the fact that there is too much furniture. I don't think a mirror above the fireplace will work. When people are sitting down (which is most of the time), all they will see is a reflection of the ceiling--the plain, white ceiling. Get some real art in there with some color.

A few simple steps can give your room a lot more vibe! Try pairing the drapes with sheer curtains, that will give the window more depth. The tv wall could be your accent wall, a dark blue would actually work very well. If the TV has backing, I would hang it on the wall, a few inches above the furniture piece. The two frames above the white dresser should go below the wall clock. Instead, a large art piece (about the length of the dresser) would complement that wall much better. I would also replace the coffee table with a rectangular, heavier glass and metal table, placed in the center. Also pillows. Pick up colors from your art work and the accent wall and use those to find pillows to decorate your sofas. Hope this inspires :-)

can you also give the window to wall dimension plus size of window as well, need bigger glasses!!

Thanks Siriuskey. There are 3 windows behind the black couch. middle one is 2410 x 1800 and the 2 little ones on each side are 610 x 1800 each. The last window behind the tan lounge is also 610x1800.

Maybe 1couch and 2 chairs, with couch on angle on side wall. Tv where it is on a pivot so can rotate to suit preferred view when in use.

This is what I thought might work for your room, I have it at 4m wide? Rember that you have to allow for the curved step up at each side. Your TV console with the TV on it or on the wall if enough space. You could try the furniture you already have to see what it feels like. This room will carry a lot of through traffic I'am thinking so a path way through it would be a good idea. cheers

i don't think this room was designed for a tv, would it be easier to arrange it in the family room?
