small lounge, large family.. design help?

Hi!!
Really keen to change this lounge space to accommodate our family of 5 better (I know, so small but well located and all we can afford in the current market!)
The cream couches are old (and comfy!) and need an update. I like the look of light neutral furnishings with pops of colour and the leather suits having 3 boys. But there’s not enough sitting space when we all want to watch a movie (although bean bags help).
I thought of putting the tv up on the wall as per the purchase picture (grey modular lounge).

How do people think I could make this tiny living work?

A modular lounge would certainly give the seating you require, mount your tv on the wall, you could have a table at back of sofa for floor cushions etc.

I have family of 5 and last movie night I got the been bag. I would put tv on a swivel arm closer to corner to improve viewing angle to couch, Keeping it at current height. Look for a small two seater to replace the arm chair. You may need to remove the plants that are near the chair to maintain walkway. A sectional can add a small corner seat but doesn’t help a lot. I prefer to put a table there so we have somewhere to put things and no coffee table.

You have some good ideas but if you're going to sell soon and aren't planning on taking the soffit out, I would just do some minor changes and keep the cabinets (just add a couple cabinets). I wouldn't move the sink but just get a nice stainless steel sink and update faucet. I'd get a stainless stove vent. Remove the wall on the left of the refrigerator but then just do a small pull out pantry on the right of the refrigerator. And, put a cabinet above the refrigerator and make it look built in. A glass backsplash, can lights on the ceiling and pendants above the penninsula. I think a raised counter will make the kitchen/room feel smaller.

Well, for lack of a better idea, since you find it a drafty little space. I'm assuming the draft comes in on the right? Most of the necessities in the area are located of the left side; i.e. vent, thermostat, light switch etc. What I would do I think is caulk up the drafty spots, maybe even add sized poster board wrapped in batting I covered in a gorgeous fuscia with diagonal grosgrain ribbons every which way covered with a heavy velvet to be attached to the area above & below the window. (Of course remove the drapes that are hanging in there). This for the purpose of using it as a pin-it board for notes. Attach a table height board covered in felt to carry across the full width of the little room. Leaving just enough space for a comfortable little antique desk chair. Paint the back wall a bright cobalt blue, paint the ceiling a silvery pearlescent white. Find a way to attach a clip-on task lamp. And stretch a heavy duty enough wire across the top of the opening and complete it with a heavy doubled velvet drape with a drooping valance. Place a swag with fringe & jewels on it to be closed when not in use. Voila intrigue is yours!

Just some ideas to think about? Uber big arc light Round uber big leather ottoman Long floor to ceiling curtains with print or color 4 inch trim on either side of the panels hung between the windows. Art work set in the cubes similar but different, as in perhaps, musical instruments, African masks, Art Deco Lallique vases, anything that reflects You translated into art. Back cubes with mirrors and put puck light in the top of each for nighttime drama and to light the art work. A large Fiddle Fig tree as the trendy green this year. Possibly smoked mirror above the TV screen as big as the cut out. Bring it on.

Sue, in line with what oklouise asks, maybe draw up a room plan with one of the online kitchen-design websites (at IKEA, Bunnings, Mitre10, etc.) and post a pic? Even outside of how it'll help people answer here, I've found them very good for planning & visualising in odd spaces generally (eg. kitchenette-with-laundry, pantry).

So, would it be better to have two x 2.5 seaters positioned in the way I’ve put on the floor plan attached (purple rectangles, television is the green rectangle) and have the tv on the wall to clear away the tv bench it currently sits on to potentially create more space?

So, not have a modular and seating underneath the tv (if the tv remains at the current height as you’ve suggested Kate?)

Have a couch with skinnier arms on one side

Have a double end chaise opposite

Gives the seating needed without the bulk and as its a chaise it doesnt close in the room or cut it into small sections which that area is small. You could also forgo having a dining area and just have Lounge with a dining sized coffee table.
