Thanks for all the great ideas everyone and sorry I didn't explain the polycarbonate a bit better :) This is along the lines of what we'll be using... http://www.psp.co.nz/building-brands/corrugated-sheeting/suntuf-polycarbonate The area is an absolute sun trap and we're hoping to use it as an extension to our living space, especially on rainy days! I've just sent my husband out to get a few pots of different stains for is to try - darkest brown (cedar) and a lighter brown (rustic oak) both by Cabots + the black we already have. Hopefully we can decide between one of those! I probably should have mentioned we will have black aluminium pool fencing running along the top of the second retaining wall - so the real question is do we keep everything black (pool fencing, horizontal fence, retaining walls and pergola) or do we go with a dark (or even light) brown for the pergola and retaining walls.... We just keep going around in circles at the moment. Decisions, decisions! Thanks again :)

I'd like to suggest that the most important thing here is more about who is using the room. If It's a child's bedroom use lovely children's curtains - there's so much around and any pattern could pick up the wall and floor colours. If a guest room and not used often I'd suggest a beautiful velvet or good quality Linen and forbid the little ones from going in to that room!!!!!! alternately a blind attached at floor level could be raised or lowered so the view is still there but with privacy from waist height perhaps. Is this picture taken during the day or at night? If it’s daytime your kitchen must not get much natural light. Go for white cabinets to reflect as much light as possible to brighten the room up. Boring but timeless & always looks fresh. For colour you could do a splash back, or just add colour via accessories such as a bright kettle/toaster set, tea towels etc., easier & cheaper to change if you get tired of it.

We are doing the following to this kitchen: - Tiles replaced to large light grey concrete tiles (confirmed) - Cabinetry sprayed to white: sea fog OR half sea fog (note: walls are now half sea fog) - Benchtop replaced with white or grey stone Question: do we get white or grey for the bench based on the above?! options are: - grey stone (pictured with floor tile held against it) - plain white stone (not pictured but is plain white stone) - white marble with subtle pale grey marbling (pictured with floor tile held against it) white tiled splashback remains as is!
