Master bedroom issue with bed placement
i have no idea where to put the [king] bed
We’re trying to think of a somewhat feng shui way so avoiding blocking windows. I’m not sure that’s possible. what would you do? - The only wall with nothing on it is the one between the doors and the bathroom which isn’t all that long IMO.
If you could change something about the layout longer term I’d love those ideas as well!

Comments (8)Just wanted to post the most recent plan that incorporates all of the suggestions that I have received from the very helpful people on the Internet! Changes made: - added an extra bathroom on far left of the house near kids bedrooms - changed the toilet/main bathroom to move the shower over to the toilet room so that we could have 2 separate kids showering at a time (without coming into our room - although that remains and option) - moved the door to the library so that it doesn't look into the toilets/bathroom - optimised the space in our bedroom by moving walk in closet and bathroom around. This modification even allowed us room for a tub in the bathroom a so thankful for that suggestion! Now we just have to find room in the budget lol Questions: - when you walk into a bathroom, do you prefer to walk into a shower (from the door) or into a toilet? What would you prefer visible from the door itself? Logically you are going to use a toilet 9 times out of 10 so you would think that should be there first, but there is something odd about walking past a door and just seeing a toilet there... Thoughts? - is there enough room in the 2 bathrooms we created by joining the toilet and main bathroom? Dimensions are 3m by 2m (roughly) and with a shower coming out about 1m and the vanity about 550mm, that leaves more or less 1.45m to walk around, surely sufficient? If there are any other suggestions or thoughts on what you would do if this was your home we would greatly appreciate the feedback. Comments (28)I agree with emily. if you want leave connections and/or a little extra room for what you don't want, but feel you may need for resale. I think the tub is a pretty important item. wet room not at all, and shower is give or take. i would prefer a big shower and a tub for soaking in, but I have always had the combo. I remember my mom built during big wet bar craze, she did not care for one. had space built, capped off connections and use as a closet. Now it is 35 years later, everyone wants to buy and tear down. The back door over by the laundry is the one that would be used by us day to day. as the cars will be parked around the back of the house (maybe under a carport later on) away from our view. When guests arrive they will come in through the front door, which we are having some design issues with. We like it so when you open the front door people can't see straight into your living area. you never know who's gonna knock on your door! i really hear you about the fact that it leads to the bedrooms, but really unsure how to remedy this.also the laundry is by the back door so when you do the washing you can easily nip out the back door to the washing line which is out the back also away from view. our coats and shoes can be stored in the laundry also. was thinking lisa, that maybe a bench seat against the wall as you walk in the front door with a couple of coat hooks for guests? Lol we dont really get guests. In our current home i can count on one hand the amount of times the front door gets used. we just access through our internal garage.... any thoughts....See MoreHelp! Comments (19)If you think hitting the lamps could be an issue, just move them a bit and add some low accessories (opposite sides to pic below). It's better to have a bit larger lamps and with your ceiling height anything shorter would look skimpy and they don't overwhelm the bedside tables once you balance with something above the bed. Just a thought...if you accessorize your bedding with some soft colors, they will also help to compliment the glass and crystal. You could even change the hardware to a silver....See More

7 months agoHi. Here's a wild card idea. Fix the left hand door to be stationary, essentially treating it as a wall. Or, actually remove it, make a wall there and have a single entry door on the right. Neither option actually extends the bed wall but prevents the door from encroaching on the bed space and may allow for a small nightstand on that side.
Okay, ready to take incoming fire.

7 months agoYou have a lovely room focusing on that beautiful landscape! But I always wonder why rooms are designed to force a plan. I've played around with it and IMHO these are the only floor plans to consider, keeping in mind the feng shui you mentioned. I haven't studied feng shui, just lightly read some instructions in the past and the only rule I remember is not to have your feet face the entrance, must have a solid headboard, not under a window and not to be reflected in a mirror when sleeping. There you go.
The first plan is a classic layout which the room dictates. You have the room for two small nitestands and hang wall sconces for lighting and not lamps. Everyone has a preference as to the size of the nightstands which is very personal.
The second plan is something out of the ordinary which I like to submit to my clients, by thinking of alternate non-conforming layouts.
The headboard in this plan can be any height from a low upholstered screen to a full wall, to an undulating sheer fabric panels ceiling to floor. Walking into your room, the focus will be on the far corner, so consider large art and a welcoming vignette.
I'm curious as to what other suggestions will be posted.
