Where is the door to outside?

the measurements along the window wall don't add up...please recheck and what is the height of the bottom of the window above the floor and again...where is the outside door if any??

The door to outside is a sliding door directly to the left of the entry door to the laundry. Unfortunately there is no direct exit to outside from the laundry and it is brick wall, so would be expensive to create one.

It doesn’t matter there is no door, it was just good to know that detail about the room.

Along the entrance wall put full height linen/storage cupboard. Christmas decorations can go up high, sheets, towels etc on other shelves. Incorporating a tall petitioned area in the cupboard for storage of brooms, floor mops, cleaners etc. on the opposite wall have a full bench with washer, dryer, sink and cupboards. You could also have full overhead cupboards either side of window. On the far wall have a set power point for charging station for vaccum cleaner. Full sliding storage 500mm deep, opposite wall cupboards 450 deep, except where washer and dryer are. This will leave majority of space through the centre is approx 850mm wide.

my suggestions has a tall laundry cabinet at the end with an Lhsaped counter with tub and washer placed to suit existing taps, then dryer and open underbench in the corner for tall laundry baskets and or bulky appliances, hanging rack for brooms etc, wall cabinet for cleaning products and a hanging rail for drying on hangers with about 1200 width open floor space you should be able to leave an ironing board standing ready for use without compromising access to everything else

Using the new measurements that you have posted, I have drawn a scaled sketch of my thoughts. Washer and dryer are stacked and positioned opposite entrance, then sink,and remainder of wall is bench top with under bench storage. Overhead cupboards from left to window, then a clothes drying rail across to washer/dryer enclosure panel. Charging station for vacuum on the left wall. On entrance wall, Full height storage cabinets, either sliding doors or hinged. With so many smart storage accessories available from retail stores, hinged maybe better to attach metal racks internally. I have drawn both bench and opposite storage at 500mm deep. But this can be made narrower. Laundry articles don’t take up much space. For example an ironing board only needs 450mm deep cupboards or 150mm if flat against the wall. You need to work out the items that need to be stored in the laundry and make sure the cabinets are built for those items. Smart choices for storage. How does your family live? Do you need the irony board up all the time, or can it be stored and used occasionally. Do you need cupboards for dirty laundry, or is dirty laundry kept in bathrooms until wash day? Will the cupboards be for laundry products or sheets and towels? Only you know your storage requirements.

Hi OkLouise, I was just wondering what you think my laundry design should be with the updated dimensions of 2602mm x 1850mm? I am finally at the stages of getting the cabinetmaker to quote on it. When I mentioned to him some of the proposed designs, he was concerned that the galley style laundry with the tall cabinets on one side and the lower cabinets on the other wall, would feel a bit cramped. My preference is to have whatever is opposite the door to be very neat and tidy because the door is likely to be open a lot and can be viewed from kitchen/dining area. I liked your idea of putting the laundry basket under the bench. The cabinetmaker said that he could have a lower drawer under the washing and/or dryer so that the person using them doesnt have to bend down so much to load and unload the machine. I like the idea of enough bench space to be able to fold the clean clothers on it. If possible (if room), I was hoping to store some of my linen in the laundry, which to me, makes more sense in a tall cupboard. I don't often make effective use of overhead cupboards (I never know what to put in them and still be able to reach it easily). The cabinetmaker said that he could take the tall cupboards to the ceiling if I wished. I really appreciate all the different designs and perspectives that everyone gave. They are all great. My key priorities I guess are: lots of bench space and lots of "pantry type" storage, tidy view from the open doorway, not too cramped. Many thanks in advance.

If your priorities are bench space and closed cabinetry then make sure those are in the finished design. It’s all well and good to listen to the cabinet maker but you’ll use it everyday.

rethinking your laundry my suggestions remain the same for the basic floorplan and use wall cabinets for sheets and towels and top of tall cabinets for doona and similar but make the wall cabinets taller than standard ie top of wall cabinets at the same height as the tall cabinets about door height and bottom of wall cabinets about 1200 off the floor which will allow about 90 cms height wall cabinets with at least two shelves plus plenty of access to the counter space and provide more easy access to wall storage than ceiling height cabinets..(imo anything that needs to be stored at ceiling height is only luggage and/or seasonal supplies and standard wall cabinets are too shallow for these.. although, if necessary, the wall cabinet next to the tall cabinet could be deeper (45cm deep or 60cm deep with bifold doors that open towards the window) and you could also add extra ceiling height storage across the whole end wall but i've been horrified at costs of custom cabinetry so only include what you know you have a specific purpose for nb shame to spend extra money on storage for things that you don't need or use

What plan did u settle on. I like dreamers sketch but without the overhead. Putting the washing basket under the machine would be great. I have mine sitting on top of stacked machines. I also have a single cabinet beside washer with 2 slide out shelves that I sit washing baskets on for the dirty washing. They slide out so I can load directly into machine. The baskets also get used occasionally to get the clean washing in. And can be easily wiped out.
