This guest bedroom with slanted ceilings and dormer windows is over a garage. A bed without a footboard gives the room a more spacious feel. Mellow colors create a restful and peaceful atmosphere. Leather strap chairs and wicker add a comforting touch. Red pillows add a pop of color. An embroidered quilt says you are special. Minimal items on horizontal surfaces lets the guest use the space for their things. All makes for an inviting and pleasant space for guests.

The house's stark beauty accented by the lush, green valley as a backdrop, made this project an exciting one for Spaces Designed. The focus was to keep the minimalistic approach of the house but make it warm, inviting with rich colors and textures. The steel and metal structure needed to be complimented with soft furnishings and warm tones.

This charming kids guest room was design with fun and whimsy in mind. The client wanted to transform a spare bedroom into a guest room for kids. We achieved some fun and flare with a new coat of paint and Eskayel wallpaper to give the space character and movement. We furnished the room with a daybed that includes a trundle to accommodate two children. We added boho elements like a bright vintage Moroccan rug and mixed textures with pillows and blankets that have graphic patterns. The cave chair serves as a reading nook for bedtime stories and the mirrors on the walls add a bit of Middle Eastern flare. Photos by Amber Thrane.

The youngest boy loves chess, and really wanted a spot in his room where he could play. The couple shared a list of vintage pieces that she owned - the bean coffee table stood out as the perfect play table, nestled into the corner reading nook. To balance the wood, I incorporated industrial metal elements - the vintage fixture, and steel desk. Shop the bedroom here http://www.decorist.com/showhouse/room/11/youngest-boys-bedroom/
