Hi pjfee2...thanks for your ideas. Have to admit I have not given the reno in MT much thought this summer, here!! Actually been finishing our beach house re-build down here and a bit 'reno'd out' to be honest. BUT we head back in just over a month so it’s time I did give it some serious thought, so your comments very much appreciated. Already got builders organized so that’s a start LOL I love the idea of adding stone on the outside to the turret part – but guessing that is as far as the budget would stretch. The siding is in good shape so need to stain it to work. Love the idea of pulling a color from the turret stone to do this. Will get a stone that has some of the log house gingery color in it and then stain the newer part of house a tone of this?? So far I’m sure we will · Rebuild the deck to run across the front of the house and form the roof over the front door entryway · Make the entry way wider and mud room inside bigger · Replace the small window to the bathroom with a door off the deck, matching the French doors. · Replace the tiny window in the turret with a longer one. · Cover turret with schist or stone cladding Not sure about replacing the windows under the deck. Added a picture of them from the inside. This living space is the hardest to figure out how to furnish in this house. It has quite a lot of light from a large window on the left wall - out of this shot - and across the back of the room through a wide door way to the room at the back. Thinking of opening up this wall? And from the inside they seem pretty well balance? Big problem in that room is that there is not a lot of places that we can use to create a sitting area. Need to get a couple of sofas in there and push them around to see what will work. It has 4 doors leading off and as you can see large log posts dotted about!! ANDd a stairwell going down to lower level and garages. Not a lot of space to play with. OK time for another coffee...its 7.30am down here!!

There are some great comment here, but my take on this would be if you are going custom to take your time and look around. Many designers offer different takes on each person's preference. The colours you have are good but I'd personally would opt for a more warmer cream, with a self print pattern. I would also suggest pinch pleated curtains and not pencil pleat as you have currently, pinch pleated curtains will give you uniformed pleats from top to bottom. In addition to this I would suggest you use blackout linen to prevent light to enter the room, and possibly interlining so that you retain some thermal properties in your fixtures. Having custom made curtains are a lifetime choice for most customers, take your time and don't settle for the first company you come across. The space above your bed i would possibly add a sheer fabric roman blind which is slightly see through but enough to give you privacy if you bedroom is situated on the ground floor. You can also get the a roman blind to match your new curtains if you'd like a more repetitive theme in your bedroom. I would suggest if you do opt for a roman blind, and you are looking for a good qualities add blackout linen. Hi everyone, I'm planing to make my grandma a surprise and do a makeover to her apartment. I'm facing multiple issues. I'm overseas and in her area can't find any architects/designers on Houzz, so I'll need to find inspiration and when I'm going on holiday in few months organise with a local contractor. One other issue, it's an old communist type of apartment, with heaps of walls and small rooms, which I'd prefer to keep this way, otherwise I'll need to involve engineers and so on. I'm thinking to do mainly bath and kitchen (apartment layout 4-kitchen; 7-bath), the rooms are fine, maybe some new fresh coat of paint. For kitchen I'm thinking to put a barn style door, they seem to be in fashion and will save some space. One issue here, kitchen will need to have some sort of eating area as well, maybe a small collapsable table I was thinking, although, it will make it harder for her. There's concrete floor, which I'm planning to keep as it is, maybe put some clear epoxy or repolish it, with some white cabinets? What are you guys thinking? Bathroom wise, I'll need some advice on the bath tub area. At this moment, there's a nice iron tub with cast iron legs, I believe that with bit of love and new paint it will look nice, or remove it completely and put a walk in shower with nice glass wall? Thinking of having vintage tiles laid and some white tiles on walls, maybe similar to subway ones, or square? Probably will go with a lot of white stuff as there's no natural light coming through.
