We converted a seldom used dining room into an intimate wine room using warm wood tones, rich caramel leather sofa and silk drapery. With the stone accents, hand-scraped wood flooring and venetian plaster on the walls and ceiling, this room has the ultimate in finishes. The client now uses this room much more frequently as a secondary living room. Photography by Nils Becker

Home wine cellar built by bumping out wall on second story. Features large format and liquor display racking. This is the left wall of the custom wine cellar in San Diego, California. There is a display area for the whiskey and scotch bottles of our client. We created a stellar custom small wine cellar design for a couple who had lost their home and wine collection in the wildfires in Rancho Bernardo in North County San Diego, California in 2007. We encountered some challenges in this project. The room where the client wanted to build the wine cellar was relatively small, and we needed to hide a beam that runs through the left wall. We provided a wine storage solution that solved the construction issues and met our client's requirements. This glass enclosed, contemporary yet rustic small wine room features magnum storage, individual bottle redwood wine racking, diamond bins, wine case storage, horizontal displays, as well as a section in the wall for liquor storage. Wine Cellar Builders at Vintage Cellars were able to construct this wine room after bumping out a wall in the client's kitchen for additional storage space. This added 80 square feet more to the tiny room on the second floor. We framed the small wine closet before installing the racking for the Rancho Bernardo San Diego California wine cellar. We also installed the proper insulation and vapor barrier to protect our client's wine from damage, and to prevent wine cooling system or wine cooling unit breakdowns. Vintage Cellars has built gorgeous custom wine cellars and wine storage rooms across the United States and World for over 25 years. Traditional Walnut Wine Cellars by Papro Consulting

The classic, traditional wine cellars showcased here achieve a level of sophistication that is reminiscent of the grace and style of old Hollywood. In the first design, a brandy tasting lounge sits just outside the wine cellar, away from the temperature controlled cool air of the cellar environment. The warm tones cast by the wall sconces and the neutral colours of the seating area provide a welcoming atmosphere to what could be considered a quintessential gentlemen’s lounge. In the second cellar, the quality of craftsmanship routinely exhibited by PAPRO WINE CELLARS AND CONSULTING’s wine cellars is on display as the custom built wood wine racking is seen prior to being stocked with the owner’s wine collection. The final cellar shows a single wall of walnut wine racking, enclosed by three frameless glass walls, sits just outside the dining room in this traditional styled home. The custom built wood wine racking is made up almost entirely of individual bottle storage shelves are backlit to illuminate the unique vintages in the owner’s collection.

The "blue hour" is that magical time of day when sunlight scatters and the sky becomes a deep shade of blue. For this Mediterranean-style Sea Cliff home from the 1920s, we took our design inspiration from the twilight period that inspired artists and photographers. The living room features moody blues and neutral shades on the main floor. We selected contemporary furnishings and modern art for this active family of five. Upstairs are the bedrooms and a home office, while downstairs, a media room, and wine cellar provide a place for adults and young children to relax and play.
